The Catholic Church will be greatly affected by this convention. The Catholic Church will receive many converts and none of them will be liberal. The orthodox faithful of the Episcopal Church who are considering coming our way have made it very clear to me that if they come they will preach, from the rooftops if necessary, the evils of liberalism, relativism etc. One person said to me, If I do cross the Tiber, I will preach from the rooftops about the wickedness I have seen envelope my church. I cannot stand to see this happen to anyone else. But they won't preach against evolutionism or for total Biblical inerrancy because these notions are "ahistorical" and "rationalist" misunderstandings of an ancient text which is regarded primarily as the script for a ritual. Ironic how the "ahistorical" and "rationalist" literalist churches have escaped liberalism altogether while the "conservative" ritualistic and non-literalist churches have not!
We do not have a Magesterium as you do.
Fat lot of good it does having a magisterium if no one will enforce it.

Ironic how the "ahistorical" and "rationalist" literalist churches have escaped liberalism altogether while the "conservative" ritualistic and non-literalist churches have not! There are also Catholics who pride themselves on being "rationalist" because they look to the clear and rational exposition of Thomas Aquinas.
When I point out that I am an admirer of Thomas as well and that like Thomas I believe that the Scripture is completely literally inerrant and that this complete literal inerrance is the foundation on which all correct exposition of the Scripture is founded, I sometimes get a reaction of confused annoyance.
