"And I guess girls don't get as turned on by guys in muscle shirts as they do by girls in belly shirts."

What about two piece bathing suits? What's the diff? And being a girl I wouldn't know how to compare between muscle shirts and belly shirts.

There's a group norm here that says that pinging each other to threads of interest is normal.

I don't believe the pings made reflect an interest in the post as much as the do the person making the post. Do you?

Discussing holy and Christian lifestyles as opposed to worldly lifestyles has noting to do with salvation.

Dress (as long as modest), worship music, rock music, and alcohol (as long as not to the point of drunkenness) are not moral issues.

Heck, we have a hard enough time living up to God's rules (even looking at another woman lustfully is adultery? Every man on earth is convicted!) without making up a few of our own. It's very easy to put up an exterior that looks good. It's a whole lot harder to actually be holy. Rules like "do not touch, do not taste, do not handle" may look like they help, but they are actually of no value against fleshly indulgence. So what's the point of trading a Law we can't keep for one we can that won't get us anything anyway?

What about two piece bathing suits?

As a sweet Christian lady told me several years ago, what is the difference in that and a girl wearing her underwear out in public?

"Personally, I believe that putting a stumbling block in a brothers way is a spiritual issues."

What may be a stumbling block for one or not may not even be for someone else.

If I tried to choose something to wear that seemed it might be a stumbling block, I'd might as well wear a burka.

You might want to hang around for quite a while longer before you start making judgments concerning the motives of many of the posters on this forum.

That is your opinion and I notice that you add your caveats to YOUR rules.

Why?

Give him a few years after law school and his naivete will be history.

It's already started. I'm still idealistic (I do still use words like "social justice,"), but I know full well that the system will never accomplish them. Too many powerful interests threatened if that ever happened.

I like to think I'm still idealistic, but realistic. Hopefully I'm right.

Strict, literal adherence to the law

And where do you find me advocating that anyone keep the OT laws?

Well if a man can't control his urge to lust just because a girl is wearing a modest two piece bathing suit, he's got more spiritual problems than God can cure.

It seems to me perhaps the author wants us all to wear togas.

Correction. Not togas.

You might want to tell the men that. God created them to be stimulated by the woman. So when they see a woman half naked in public, it is probably hard to keep from feeling a natural reaction to the half naked woman.

Because immodesty and drunkenness are explicitly "moral issues." But, if I want to wear bell bottoms, while that may make me look silly, it's not immoral to do so. Similarly, if I have a beer or two with colleages after work, I've done nothing wrong. God made wine to gladden the heart of man (Ps. 104:15), and to the pure all things are pure (Tit. 1:15).

Several places. For a start, Jesus warned about it:

Matthew 18: 1-14, especially note verse 7

1: At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"
2: And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them,
3: and said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
4: Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5: "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me;
6: but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened round his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
7: "Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the man by whom the temptation comes!
8: And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life maimed or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire.
9: And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire.
10: "See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I tell you that in heaven their angels always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.
12: What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray?
13: And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.
14: So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

Mark 9:38-48, particularly note verse 42:

38: John said to him, "Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he was not following us."
39: But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon after to speak evil of me.
40: For he that is not against us is for us.
41: For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ, will by no means lose his reward.
42: "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea.
43: And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire.
45: And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell.
47: And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell,
48: where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.
49: For every one will be salted with fire.
50: Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its saltness, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another."

CTD and I have a long history. He has credibility. In fact, he has earned the right to question my motivations.

You, however, have not.
