They have substituted an idolatrous regard for scripture as statically inerrant for a balanced view of the biblical documents as time-caught records of human striving for divine insight which should only be interpreted in the light of reason, and by the dynamic of living tradition which enables us to apply its guidelines with a sense of cultural relevance and spiritual continuity. Scripture, Reason, and Tradition...

He writes of 'they' as 'idolatrous' and 'us' as 'in the light of reason'.

As for scripture, reason and tradition: scripture is bluntly against the abomination of men lying with men; reason tells us that Earth's life forms are driven at the core (by design or evolution, doesn't matter) to reproduce and homosexuality goes against the very essence of life; tradition (of the great majority of believers) is plainly against homosexual behavior (as it is against other sins of the flesh).

They can not tolerate at all, whatsoever, ever, homosexuality being identified as 'sin'. But sin it is. Sin against God, against nature, against tradition.

Time to end it with a yea or nea, indeed.

The Columbus area has become much more liberal since we came here more than 30 years ago. Franklin County, sadly is becoming a Dem stronghold. The author accuses their church's bible believing African hierarchy of being homophobic, when in fact his own GLBT faction are Christophobic.

Hmm. Even God seems to think favorably of reason and Tradition according to Scripture.

2 Thessalonians 3:6-15

6 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from every brother who walks irresponsibly and not according to the tradition received from us.

Isaiah 1:18

18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

I believe the political shift is the result of a combination of factors; the university, comparitively low cost housing and an influx of high tech types from different cultures. Fortunately the surrounding counties, Delaware f. inst., have become more Republican as Franklin Cty people moved out. Before retirement I had the top HR spot with one of those tech cos. I remember one of our lefty loonies, a Ph.D becoming upset when a co-worker posted a "Duke" sign in his office assuming he was a supporter of the racist David Duke. It had to be explained to her that he was a Duke graduate.

In York County, PA, one has gone with the Evangelical Presbyterian and one with Evangelical Covenant. The congregation alluded to as "in process" is considering Evangelical Covenant. As for the other two which are "actively looking" it is too soon to tell.

Scripture: The sole pillar of Christian theology

Scripture never says that. Scripture DOES say, however, that the CHURCH is the pillar and foundation of the truth. Thus, TRUE Christianity sees the Church as the pillar of theology, of which Scripture is one aspect of the Church's teachings.
