"Wouldn't that make you Protestant Protestants?"
Actually, it is a little known secret that the Baptist Church is really the true church directly descended from the ministry of John the Baptist through Appollos through Priscilla and Aquilla and thence underground through the various persecutions until that fool Roger Williams stuck his head up in the Massachusetts Colony and got kicked out for heresy into Rhode Island. If he had only kept his mouth shut (an impossibility for a Baptist) no one would have known who we were and we could have gone on keeping our pot luck suppers to ourselves. Now with all this fame and prosperity we have splintered into as many sects as there are meatloaf recipes and on top of all that someone has introduced all these different modern versions of the scriptures trying to trick us into giving up our KJVs (which translation we are sure was directly inspired). If we gave up the Victorian English KJV we would have to change the dialect we use when we pray and that might confuse the Almighty and He would forget we are the authentic church. Now you know the official history of the really authentic church, not some dilettante poseur.

We believe that the Baptists are the original Christians. We did not commence our existence at the reformation, we were reformers before Luther and Calvin were born; we never came from the Church of Rome, for we were never in it, but we have an unbroken line up to the apostles themselves. We have always existed from the days of Christ, and our principles, sometimes veiled and forgotten, like a river which may travel under ground for a little season, have always had honest and holy adherents. Persecuted alike by Romanists and Protestants of almost every sect, yet there has never existed a Government holding Baptist principles which persecuted others; nor, I believe, any body of Baptists ever held it to be right to put the consciences of others under the control of man. We have ever been ready to suffer, as our martyrologies will prove, but we are not ready to accept any help from the State, to prostitute the purity of the Bride of Christ to any alliance with Government, and we will never make the Church, although the Queen, the despot over the consciences of men.Charles H. Spurgeon
One of our more famous closet Baptist. And the Reformers thought that he was all theirs.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Please pass the meatloaf b-d.

Actually, it is a little known secret that the Baptist Church is really the true church directly descended from the ministry of John the Baptist Even the Southern Baptist website refutes the "successionist" theory. It only takes a little bit of research to find that all of the heresies that successionists try to link their heritages to have absolutely nothing in common with each other EXCEPT for being called heretics by Catholics. Many of the heresies that successionists try to trace their ancestry through are diametrically opposed to each other. Thus, this successionist theory is utterly ridiculous and contrived to try to gain it some legitimacy.
