Pakistan is one of the countries where the minorities are in one of the worst condition in the whole world. Minorities are very insecure in this society, cause of this insecurity and fear are the laws of Blasphemy. If any person says or writes something which goes in offence of Mohammad the prophet of Islam, or disgraces Koran the holly Book of Islam, punishment for this act is Sentence to death. These types of laws are the fruits of an extremist Islamic society, which prospered in General Zia Ul Haq’s Regime (1980s). Since then the minorities are the easy victims of this law, as Pakistani society is a society packed with a lots of extremist elements so there is a very strong hatred for People practicing other religions and beliefs. These extremist elements use these laws as weapon against the minorities. Many of Pakistani Minority communities especially Christians who are the largest but the weakest minority are the easy victims to these laws. So whenever a Muslim extremist or some other individual has some conflict with a Christian or any other minority person, one way of taking revenge or destroying that Christian person is blaming him of Blasphemy against the Prophet or Koran. As soon as this blame has been set against an Individual and any Mullah comes to know of this he never tries to inform the police or the law enforcement agencies. Rather he considers the killing of that person in front of his eyes one of his best good deeds in his whole life. The Muslim Ulema and Moollas start the propaganda, they don’t look for some evidence or clues rather they turn on the loud speaker of their mosque and start announcing that the person accused should be killed because it is the will of Allah., they gather a crowd and convince them, it is the duty of a Muslim to kill such a person who has committed such a terrible crime against the prophet or the Koran, otherwise Allah and his Prophet would not forgive such muslins who let their enemy(person accused of Blasphemy) live. When the Mullahs are pretty sure that the crowd is bloodthirsty for that person they lead the crowd to that persons home or someplace where he could be found if that person is found then he is brutally killed by the crowd. And if the accused somehow manages to escape then his place and house are burnt his family members, relatives and friends are beaten and even killed. Riots start in the area religious places like churches are burnt. Any property of the minorities burnt and destroyed. Christians never do such acts but the blame is always put on them. Same has happened last week the second week of November 2005, A Christian person named Yousaf Masih was gambling with some Muslims, when he won the gamble, the other did not let him take the money. A quarrel started, he ran from the place, there was a fire in the Koran Mahul so the ones who he quarreled with him put the blame on him that he has set Koran Mahul’s Library on fire. As there were many religious books and Korans in the Library Yousaf was accused of burning Koran. So as the Mullahs and Ulema started the announcement for what had happened and blamed Yousuf of this act, people gathered and they soon burnt his house. But Yousuf had run away sensing the danger. The crowd which had gathered on the call of the Mullah burned Yousaf’s house and some other houses of Christians who lived in the Neighborhood. The crowd burnt and raised the building of two churches to ground they also burned the furniture of the nearby convent school and the library of the convent school. The police and the area management was also involved in this, the case was already submitted in the police station under blasphemy law. So the police captured both younger brothers of Yousaf and took them along and started search for Yousaf starting from the houses of his relatives. Police and Mullahs harassed Yousaf’s friends and relatives to tell where he was. When they did not found Yousaf at any place they took his brothers to the police Station and tortured them. The next day Yousaf was arrested from Shekhupura. Having a look at all the details we see that one person was only blamed of Blasphemy and the consequences were so worst that one can’t imagine that yet nothing has been proved all the destruction took place. Seeing the danger Christians living in the area left the city. Intense riots start in the area. There are laws in every country of the world in every place every law has an implementation and the punishment starts after the crime has been proved. Even the Murderers and killers are only punished after their crime has been proved, after that it is made sure that the punishment should be just. Laws are made to fulfill justice but if the laws are doing more wrong than the acts of justice than such laws are abandoned. If a person accused is not found guilty of the crime he is released. But in the case of Blasphemy if the person is released even then the Fatwa by the Mullah is enough to take the life of the person who is blamed. Due to the Fatwa many of the extremists will kill the person. Today the world knows that Mullahs simply consider them above the law of any country of the world they have their own laws and own criminals in their sight. It is much worst in Pakistan. Because Pakistan is a state that was founded on the theory of Islam and Islam is the official religion of the Government of Pakistan, Mullahs always blackmail the government. Even today many of the Extremist Mullahs are sitting in the National Assembly of Pakistan. Who doesn’t let these laws to be abandoned? Laws of Blasphemy are the main cause of the insecurity of the Minorities in Pakistan. Christians suffer the most because in today’s date muslins consider Christians as their worst enemies so innocent Christians of Pakistan are the victims of their wrath. And this wrath makes the Christians an easy meal. On the other hand the financial and Literacy condition of the Christians, is also very bad so they cannot defend themselves from such blames. This law is the worst trap for the minorities. Many verses of Koran are printed in the newspapers daily and the newspapers are burnt and used for many purposes if we look down a street anywhere in Pakistan we will see many pieces of news paper and nearly every one of these has some Verse from Koran written on it, people while walking step on these pieces, there are always people burning news papers for different purposes. Even these papers have sewerage water running over them, what I want to say is that the Muslims themselves who run the newspapers are doing such a disgrace to the prophet (every news paper has Hadith saying of the prophet along with his name) and the Koran which is unmatched. Why don’t they pass a law in the assembly to prevent the printing of the verses and hadith in the newspapers? Mullahs the so called guardians of Islam and Hafiz-e-Koran (means “Protector of Koran” ones who have learnt Koran by heart) are the worst disgracers of Koran as they sexually abuse children. And Even Sell drugs as the Taliban were doing in Afghanistan. These Hafiz-e-Koran are Known as the ones who have a Koran written on their hearts. Minorities are always scared of this law, because they know once and Individual has been accused of it, the whole world will become ones enemy, and the Islamic extremists wont wait for The Law agencies or the courts to punish that individual, but rather they will like to kill that person by their own hands. If one is not found guilty by the courts, even then his life is in danger because these extremists consider themselves as the supreme law. They are such ignorant people that they won’t investigate to find out the fact but instead, they only require some words from a Muslim which say that one has committed blasphemy against the Prophet or Koran. It’s very clear now that this law has been continuously used to harass the minorities. Today Pakistan is a frontline state in the war against terrorism. And the government of Pakistan Proclaims that it won’t let any type of terrorism happen on its soil, but what I want to say that what is happening for a very long time isn’t it terrorism isn’t Pakistan high jacked by terrorists who are drinking the blood of its citizens. These laws are providing a way for the terrorists to harass the Minorities; many have been killed due to these brutal laws. Today Pakistan says that it has stood against terrorism, and it condemns every type of terrorism now it’s the time for Pakistan Government to stand against this terrorism also, which is happening within its borders. Let’s hope that one day these brutal tactics of terrorism will come to an end. And Pakistan will become a secure place for the minorities.
