THE HERITAGE OF THE REFORMATION
Will we see an unusual work of God in our time?
On 16th October 1555, almost exactly 450 years ago, two bishops, a theologian and a preacher, were cruelly burned to death for the faith, in Oxford. We should remember them with thanksgiving; we are their spiritual descendants. They were Nicholas Ridley and Hugh Latimer: Ridley the theologian, Latimer the preacher.
They did not seek martyrdom; nor did they flinch from it when the moment came. What held them on their course were the great doctrines of Gods mercy which they found as they studied the scriptures as the unique, supremely authoritative, word of God: justification by faith alone, through Christ alone, by grace alone, to the glory of God alone. Latimer famously encouraged his friend Ridley with the words, Be of good comfort, Master Ridley, and play the man. We shall this day light such a candle, by Gods grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out. (1 )

Latimer & Ridley. If they could see Aglicanism today in the UK - It would make them weep. The candle is burning low.
Agreed. But it's not out...
