Via Stand Firm(AL) comes this statement from Alabama's two Episcopal bishops on the upcoming Anglican Consultative Council meeting that is the height of...something:
In the interest of deeper understanding and reconciliation in the churches of the Anglican Communion, the Windsor Report called for a process of listening and study on issues of human sexuality.
A part of this process will be a presentation by an ad hoc committee of the Episcopal Church to the meeting of the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) beginning June 18 in Nottingham, England, as requested by the Windsor Report and the primates’ meeting. The presentation will attempt to demonstrate theologically how blessing for same sex unions would meet the "criteria of scripture, tradition, and reason" and "would constitute growth in harmony with the apostolic tradition as it has been received." (Windsor Report, 141)
This presentation will not represent the official views of the Episcopal Church or the House of Bishops. It is the work of the ad hoc committee composed primarily of theologians appointed by the Presiding Bishop and his Canon Theologian, who are charged with presenting one viewpoint as requested.
This next step in the listening and study process recommended by the Windsor Report and the primates of the Anglican Communion is meant to contribute to the conversation and further discussion in the church about the issues before us.
We ask that you communicate this to your parishioners, if possible before the meeting of the Anglican Consultative Council which begins on June 18.
Okay. Okay. Okay. ECUSA was asked to give a presentation at the ACC meeting as to why giving Robbie a pointy hat and allowing same-sex marriages is not a violation of Scripture. But the presentation that ECUSA's representatives will make before the Nottingham meeting "will not represent the official views of the Episcopal Church or the House of Bishops." Um..."not represent the official views of the Episcopal Church or the House of Bishops?!" Well then what in tarnation will it represent?!
Off the top of my head, I can think of two explanations for this statement. Henry Parsley, one of the authors, is running for Presiding Bishop and wants to assure the church's liberals that ECUSA is simply going through the motions and that nothing will change. Or both bishops are desperately trying to hold on to their remaining orthodox parishes by claiming that whatever ECUSA Unitarianism they hear out of that meeting will not affect Alabama at all.
Perhaps there's another explanation. But since the English language is the only one I speak, I can't for the life of me figure out what it is.

"Listening" is leftist code for, "we've already decided what we are going to do, we just need to find the right group of leftists who will tell us what we want to hear."
Until a few decades ago, EVERYBODY, both religious peoples and non-religious, was in full agreement that homosexuality was wrong and unnatural. The left is working to change all of that, but I don't think it's for the reason that most people think. I don't think the left really cares anymore about the homosexuals than they do about any of their other minority groups, the left simply uses these groups to advance Marxism. However, Marxism has as a stated goal, the destruction of organized religion, so the government becomes god. The leftists know that if they can succeed in destroying the sanctity of marriage, then they are well on their way to destroying our Judeo-Christian culture.
