1-If I tell you that, I'll have to kill you. I am joking of course. ;-)
2-Paradox
"The date underneath [the pyramid] is that of the Declaration of Independence and the words under it signify the beginning of the new American Æra, which commences from that date."
The official English translation of "novus ordo seclorum" is: "A new order of the ages"
NOTE: "Novus ordo seclorum" was not intended to mean (nor does it correctly translate into) "new world order." Seclorum is plural (new world's order?). And Thomson said the motto refers to the beginning of a new age an American era beginning in 1776. The pyramid's rising rows of construction help illustrate this new series of generations.
Relax. Did you know a large number of our Founding Fathers were Free Masons?
Many of them were also Christians, though some were Deists.
So what if we have a few symbols here and there. If we start insisting that they be removed, then we begin to recognize that such symbols have power. They don't. Therefore the symbols can stay as historical depictions of a part of our history that is frequently ignored.
Remember, Atheists want all symbols of Christianity removed, even though the symbols are historically and culturally relevant and don't represent or conflict with the non-establishment clauses in our Constitution.
But isn't it interesting how the Free Masons pop up throughout history in various fights and conflicts?
the WWW is a wonderful thing.

For one thing, "Novus Ordo Seclorum" doesn't mean "New Secular Order". It means "A New Order of the Ages".
13 ... 13 ... 13 .... 13 ....
To assume makes an ass out of u and me.
I assume you don't have financial interest in that. To help you stir this pot: one has one-half or one side of the combatants in the American Civil War and the European theater in World War II.
Have fun!
Simple: The pyramid scheme that is social security; the eye of Big Brother government. [snicker].
Jesus answered it already.
19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

'Tis the Eye of Greenspan, and it commands you to SPEND this bill. ;)
Most of you are ignorant. Sorry but it's true.
The back of the dollar bill says New Order of the Ages or New Order of the Times.
seculorum is actually a more 'modern' latin version of the word saeculum which means generation, lifetime, age, etc.
Seculorum or saeculorum is the plural genitive form thus correctly translated as 'of the Ages or times'
I don't see a conflict here. A new secular order was founded by men who trust in G-d. How could it be any plainer or consistent?
Oh, it's just the all-seeing eye of Horus, like at the top of the Washington Monument. Nothing to "see" here just move along...
Your translation of 'Novus Ordo Seclorum' is incorrect, which has led you astray.
I had the pleasure (???) of studying Latin for four years at Regis High School in NYC (and my guess is you don't have any background in Latin at all), and the slogan you cite is accurately translated as "A new order of the ages."
Novus: New
Ordo: Order
Seclorum: age, generation (Plural form)
(I knew that old latin-english dictionary would come in handy!)
Anyway, the two ideas "A New Order of The Ages" and "In God We Trust" are not inconsistent at all.
PS - Regis HS doesn't require at least 3 years of Latin anymore. A shame!
Check this out, these were created by an x mason 33rd degree.

If only Rick Warren, Barbara Boxer, Billy Graham, Sheets Byrd, Jesse Jackson, Saddam Hussein, John Kerry, George Bush, and all recent Popes were masons. Then we could have a roll-em-all-into-one bashem/sockem/kickem/slashem/gougem free for all.
That could be fun.
The money is worth nothing anyway, not even the linen it is printed on! So who cares.
