“An Episcopalian diocese divided over issues of orthodoxy and homosexuality begins its 109th annual two-day meeting on Friday at the Riverside Convention Center.

An estimated 1,500 delegates, visitors, officials and staff of the Diocese of Los Angeles of the Episcopal Church USA will elect officers for diocesan boards and deputies to represent the six-county diocese at the General Convention of the Episcopal Church in 2006.

Also planned is discussion of a report by the Lambeth Commission about the future of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Anglicans in Africa and elsewhere vigorously oppose the ordination of gay clergy and blessings of same-sex unions….”

Read it all. Also take a look at the Convention agenda here, and the resolutions here.

TOPICS: Mainline Protestant
KEYWORDS: clergyperson
Just a look at the resolutions should reveal how far this church has fallen. For example:

VOLUNTARY LISTING OF CLERGY INFORMATION

RESOLVED that the One Hundred Ninth Annual Meeting of the Convention of the Church in the Diocese of Los Angles request each clergyperson employed by a congregation of the Diocese and canonically resident or licensed to officiate in the Diocese, voluntarily to make available to the Compensation Task Force the following information for the preceding year not later than the first of March of each year on a form prepared by the Task force:

1. The total compensation of the clergyperson, including stipend, housing and benefits.
2. The race, gender, and sexual orientation of the clergyperson.

Clergyperson? What tin ear came up with that!!

And "Sexual orientation of the clergyperson"? Sounds like occasion for running away...

Traditional Anglican ping, continued in memory of its founder Arlin Adams.

FReepmail me if you want on or off this list.
This is a moderately high-volume ping list (typically 3-7 pings/day).

I really can't imagine why the race matters. If we're talking about race, though, the strongest Anglicans in the world are Africans.

It doesn't, of course. But the goal is to equate "sexual orientation" with such in-born, immutable, visible traits as gender or race.

gender is a word that pertains to grammar (masculine and feminine); french--le, la spanish el, la etc.

the word sex is the original question, as in sex?: m or f

gender: male, female, trans, both other.... this word is interestingly hijacked

Imprimus -- yes, I've been receiving that since about '91. Also been to one or two Shavano Inst. dinners.
