I have seen some interesting things said on this forum. But this statement brought me up short. Here is the quote from another thread and I will leave the poster of the quote anonymous because I'd like to open a discussion about the idea behind the quote and not the person behind the quote:
However you define doctrine, it is essentially Man's interpretation of God's Law, and I believe that would even include Paul's docrtinal statements.
Was Paul writing Scripture? Are the Pauline Epistles just as much God's Word as the Gospels are? as the giving of the Mosaic Law?
I believe Peter thought they were when he told the people he was writing to to pay as much attention to Paul's writings as you do the other Scriptures (2 Peter 3:15-17).
But what do you do when confronted with someone who says that Paul's interpretation of God's doctrine is fallible because it came from a man like us, albeit a man somewhat closer to God than we are.
What are your thought? And remember to keep it civil.
***Jesus Christ is too good for any lesser legacy. Do you doubt that?***
I'm not sure I understand your question. Now, what of mine?
Where do you get your knowlege of Jesus Christ?
Good point.
That's a modern viewpoint, not a Pauline view.
And to be totally honest, this professor was not a flaming leftist. His ideas went more libertarian than anything."
For a teacher's opinion to be considered on a par with the writer's of the Bible is an artifice of Satan.
Unfortunately, students are strongly impressed by mentor's and teacher's they respect; and/or they especially like and enjoy. It is a real life experience as opposed to words written thousands of years ago. So much that is delitescence is picked up along the way.
We grow as believers until the day we leave this life. Seeds of corruption are sown in the minds of us all, along with the words of God and Our Lord Jesus Christ... Sorting them out is not spontaneous; but requires diligent time spent in the Word of God. Faith and prayer and The work of the Holy Spirit.

Could you be a little more precise...
Yes.
Are the Pauline Epistles just as much God's Word as the Gospels are?
Yes.
as the giving of the Mosaic Law?
Yes.
:-)
It wouldn't. But then seeing the miracles of Christ didn't prove it to skeptics of His day. The scripture quote was not meant to be proof, but was more of a general statement summing up my belief. I just find it interesting that because Paul wrote some things that people don't like, they contend he wasn't inspired. But they have no problem with the four men who wrote the gospels. It's just bad reasoning used to support bad arguments.
14 "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
16 "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."
17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
*******
Outside are the dogs...
Dogs are those outside of the Abrahamic covenant.
With ...the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood...
