Superior Court Files #29892 for Tulare Co. California report that Joe Banuelos, a convicted felon, was hired by Fr. Mike Lastiri who was then Pastor of Holy Family Church, Visalia, CA, and is currently Pastor of St. Patrick's, Merced, CA. Court files report that Banuelos "quite probably...[had] a homosexual relationship with...Father Lastiri." Banuelos was furnished residence by Fr. Lastiri at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Goshen, CA. On January 14, 1991, Banuelos sexually assaulted a six-year-old child (the nephew of the Associate Priest at Holy Family Church). The assault took place in the Rectory of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. After Banuelos undressed the child, orally copulated him, he attempted an act of sodomy. After completing the assault, Banuelos returned the victim to the Rectory of Holy Family Church where he was later found by his Mother.
Banuelos advised the Court that he believed he was HIV-positive and that his brother died of A.I.D.S. Banuelos was sentenced to six years in prison. He is registered as a sex offender in Tulare county, CA. The victim's Mother still lives in fear of Banuelos. The Bishop (Steinbock), to date, has taken no action.

That episode told me all I needed to know about Steinbock.
You know, if this stuff keeps up, vigilante justice may make a comeback.
Oh man, OH MAN, I need to make some phone calls. I had NO IDEA.
I will be sending this in to the local newspapers, maybe even the TV station. You saw the letter I posted a few times from Bishop Steinbock yesterday? I DO NOT like him for various reasons, one of which is personal.
For the record, he is from southern CA and a friend of Mahony.
Yes, I suspect he is light in the loafers.
RCF, Stephen Brady, ping
Just spoke with my godmother. She said the story is true and the bishop covered it up at the time.
I'm contacting the papers and TV station.
None of this concerns me. We have turned the corner and things are getting better.
What kind of people do they have down in Visalia?
How could a crime like that possibly end up with merely six years in prison???
And the beat goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on until every other beat is drowned out and the remaining lambs are devoured or scattered to the hills.

Where is our good shepherd on earth? Does he care? Does he know? Does he even care to know?

Dear Fellow Catholics:
This is probably our most important posting to date. As you may know, our Metropolitan, Archbishop Roger Mahony, is in obstinate and scandalous dissent with the teaching office of the Catholic Church. Herein lays our concern: MAHONY, EVEN THOUGH ONLY A METROPOLITAN, EXERCISES HIS INFLUENCE OVER MANY BISHOPS AS IF HE WERE THE PRIMATE OF THE WHOLE WEST OF THE USA. We at Religiousum Voluntatis et Intellectus Obsequium of Merced, feel that our only hope is for Mahony to leave and have someone else take his place, and this can only be accomplished with your help. Our posting is a call to action for local parishioners, to make known to the appropriate authorities in Rome, what our circumstances are in the Dioceses of the West of the US that so critically deserves their special attention.
Our next Metropolitan Bishop must have the courage to stand up for what is good and right. What we need in our next Bishop are as follows:
Courage to defend the Most Holy Sacrament of Eucharist
Courage to teach Religiosum Voluntatis et Intellectus Obsequium
Courage to speak out against abortion
Active support for the pro-life movement
Courage to speak out against homosexuality in the priesthood
Speak out against gay marriage
Speak out against euthanasia
Withhold communion from politicians who support abortion
Put an end to liturgical abuse
Allow the Latin Mass
Demand that Catholic schools specifically teach Catholic doctrine
Provide financial accountability at diocesan and parishional levels, as required by canon law
In essence, we need a good holy Shepherd to lead this diocese into the future.
Please take the time to write to the church authorities whose names and addresses we provide, so that they can come to understand how valuable it is that our next Metropolitan Bishop is the right man to stand up for the doctrines that have faded. For your convenience, we have provided you with the following sample message to send to the appropriate authorities in Rome.
Great letter! but Rome doesn't care.
"Sheesh, Mahoney and his kind are a scandal and embarrassment! He seems to act as though he not only likes being a putz but positively revels in it and enjoys it. And this you call a "prince of the Church?""
I wonder who elevated this idiot to the sacred college of cardinals? Could it be the same pope currently spending his time composing poetry and meandering meditations about meetings with "enlightened" philosophers some decades ago?
Just so you know where Steinbeck stands on the abortion issue...

I went through most of the RCF documents last night. Bishop Steinbock took the promiscuous homosexual Fr. Lastiri along as a "guest" on his ad limina (sp?) trip to Rome three months ago.
Things do not look good for the bishop.
There is a breaking story on Father Lastiri which will be broadcast on the 11:00 local news tonight. He has been removed as pastor of the church in Merced. No word yet on his connection to Bishop Steinbock.
I hope this is the beginning of the end of Bishop S. He has made too many enemies and now it's coming back to haunt him.
