The MID (Monastic Interreligious Dialogue) sponsored a gathering of "Nuns in the West" May 23-26, 2003 hosted by Ven. Yifa at Hsi lai Temple in Hacienda Heights, CA. The event was recommended by the nuns who participated at Gethsemani Encounter II, April 2002....
This wonderful Buddhist Temple provided hospitality with plenty of space for our dialogue, chants, chats and exchange of views, talent and stories. We took the first day to hear a snap shot of each of the participants... from Benedictines, Maryknolls, Sisters of Providence, Religious Sisters of the Sacred Heart, Catholic Orothodox, Congregation of Notre Dame, Vedanta Society, Soto Zen, Fo Guang Shan, Forest Thai Tradition, Tibetan, Korean, Japanese, Mt. Equity Zendo, Jihoji, Olympia Zen Center, Boise, New Skete, Benedictine Grange, Shasta Abbey, Bolder, Ontario, Or, Temple of Understanding, St. Mary of the Woods, Ferdinand, Beech Grove, Nepal, Atchison, St. Paul, Yankton, Hollywood, Osage, Redwoods Valley, Sebastopol, Cambridge, Claremont, Hawaii, Richardton ND.
The process was first the background and practice of each participant shared liesurely, then a gathering of issues, concerns, themes and hot topics. We clustered them into three themes: l) inner life of training, 2) balance of inner contemplative work and outer social engagement and 3) community and role of authority, authenticity and what's in common about the monastic way of life.
The second day we shared on the three topics in three groups. The dialogue was sustained during meals and our formal sessions. We punctuated our time together with both formal and informal prayers and chants. We participated and observed the chants of our host temple and of some of our participants. On Sunday evening Father Tom Sherman, SJ, from Marymount-Loyola University, presided for uour Eucharist, a first in the Stupa. Our evenings were common recreation of nun-talk.
We closed with gratitude and a sense of an event that will reveal it's fruits for years and years to come.
Peace... Sister Meg, (Sister Mary Margaret Funk, OSB)

"Progressive" Catholic alert! (At least they're not holding this conference in a Catholic church, but still...)
When I first read this sentence I swore it said "Masonic Interrelgious Dialogue". I've been on FR way too long.
LOL!
But they celebrated mass in the stupa! This is a grave abuse.
Interesting in the original article: They can't even *spell* "Orthodox" correctly! [Orothodox]
Also. The Catholic sisters look like nice little old grandmas. None is young. The members of the Eastern religions' communities of nuns look like they have made a serious religious commitment -- complete with shaven heads.
How bankrupt is the Faith of these poor sisters if they have to go looking for kicks sitting in front of Indonesian Buddha/gods?
Does anybody remember Our Lady of Montichiari around here?
The word is that the Vatican experts did a full analysis of this apparition in Italy beginning around 1950. These Vatican experts returned a high level of approval in their report to the local Archbishop. However, only the Archbishop has the authority to promulgate the official approval or disapproval of a reported apparition in his diocese. This archbishop was too chicken to make a statement in favor of an apparition, so he just said that it was not against faith or morals, but he did not see sufficient evidence of the supernatural. (An all too common cop-out on apparitions)
Our Lady of Montichiari said that a time was upon the Church in which priests and religious would betray their vows, abandon the Faith and lead others to do the same. She begged for conversion, prayer and penance to offer reparation for priests and religious. She said that where priests and religious turned to her under this title, they would be protected and strenghtened against temptations.
So because an archbishop refused to take a positive stand, this apparition has had minimal impact on the church. In order to protect himself from possibly looking stupid, the archbishop denied people access to the graces they needed.
Anyone who has further info on Montichiari, I would love to see it.
Our Lady of Montichiari, pray for us all!!!
Here is a good one. I don't have the expertise to import pictures and stuff, but this website is worth a look, if you are interested:

I just sent the url of the posted article and the article to Our Lady's Warriors and asked for their input. Couldn't find this group in the dissent part of their website.
The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against other bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres (other priests). Churches and altars will be sacked. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord."
"The demon will be especially implacable against the souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them."
". . . Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able still to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved."
Third and the Last message on October 13, 1973
Our Lady of Akita
April, 1984 - Most Rev. John Shojiro Ito, Bishop of Niigata, Japan, after years of extensive investigation, declares the events of Akita, Japan, to be of supernatural origin, and authorises throughout the entire diocese the veneration of the Holy Mother of Akita. He said: "The message of Akita is the message of Fatima."
June, 1988 - Vatican City - Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect, Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, gives definitive judgement on the Akita events and messages as reliable and worthy of belief.

The "She Lie" temple is where Algore scored some big bucks.
Is this the same "She Lie" temple, or a different one?
And then he and Clintoilet turned the Whitehouse into the "He Lies Temple".
"If you thought the Fatima fiasco was bad, look what's going on closer to home."
Look what's going on elsewhere in Portugal too...

I can't believe they are all sitting there in front of a Budah! Sigh... I think the Church is truely seeing the final hours of the last days.
But, re: the mass on the beach. As long as the monstrance, crucifix and some other required items are present, it is ok to have mass in places other than churches. We in Alaska are lucky to have a church here and there, but our priests fly to many remote villages and we are very creative where mass is performed. You don't need a consecrated church for mass.
Can the 'Buddha above the altar' picture be sent to Cardinal Ratzinger in Rome?
There's an account of a "beach marriage" in "Hostage to the Devil," a book containing five true stories of demonic possession, that's worth the price of admission. In the middle of the ceremony, the possessed priest grabbed the bride by the throat and tried to drown her.
