A review of 9 books refuting the misinformation of "The Da Vinci Code" :

It's a NOVEL folks.
That means it is FICTION.
It's supposed to be NOT TRUE.
You have to be dumber than the people who drank Cool-Aid for Jim Jones in Guiana to think it is true.
SO9
And you have to be dumber than that to have missed the point that the book claims the "facts" behind the fiction are true.
When, in fact, they are false.
Half the Historical Novels on the market have paragraphs at the beginning or end setting up the novel as TRUE.
It is a standard part of creating the "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" that is essential to the enjoyment of the book.
No one but a simpleton really believes it.
Everyone but simpletons understands that is is a literary device.
I think this must have gained a large readership among people who do not ordinarily read books.

Is Clinton's new book to be made over as, 'The Clinton-Monica Code'?

Don Brown's book is being sold as a fictional storyline, though it is centered around TRUE 'FACTS', which his fictional characters purport to 'reveal' to us, the readers. Brown introduces us through these characters the following historical 'facts': That the Catholic Church subverted the 'true' message of Jesus Christ (ie, a gnostic, feminine one), that the Bible, and Church authority are false; that Jesus and his early followers were actually feminists, and believed Jesus was merely a prophet. In fact, the first page of the book, entitled "Fact," states:
"All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate."
Don Brown has already expressed his desire that that he wants it to radically change perceptions of history, religion, and Western civilization.
When asked if the novel might be considered controversial, Brown again asserts his desire via his web site to promote the "sacred feminine" and to challenge the commonly accepted understandings of Western culture and Christianity:
"As I mentioned earlier, the secret I reveal is one that has been whispered for centuries. It is not my own. Admittedly, this may be the first time the secret has been unveiled within the format of a popular thriller, but the information is anything but new. My sincere hope is that The Da Vinci Code, in addition to entertaining people, will serve as an open door for readers to begin their own explorations."
SO9, you may want to read a little before denigrating those who are actually keeping their eyes open and arming themselves with the truth.
The fact that you think this one is of a different order demonstrates how little you have ever read.
SO9
Why are you so bitter?
Isn't that what I just said?
Why are you so bitter?
I am not bitter, just contemptuous of people so willfully ignorant.
So9
The sad thing is that people do think its real, especially with the author going arpund claiming its based on in-depth research.
"I am not bitter, just contemptuous of people so willfully ignorant."
So being scornful, sneering, and condescending is somehow a step up?
It is very good that apologetic books are being written to counter this book. It's going to get even bigger once the movie comes out (I think Ron Howard is directing it). People who are not regularly exposed to the Word are going to be fooled by the things in this story, even if those falsehoods are wrapped up as a fictional novel. The church has the responsibility to counter the falsehoods with the truth.
So being scornful, sneering, and condescending is somehow a step up?
Yes.
You either hold contemptible people in contempt or you cease to have any standards at all.

The charity is just oozing from your words.
Didn't Jesus warn us of this kind of Pharisaical mindset?
