And I thought this thread almost dead :') The Calvinists have revived it) As one of neither do you find it as ironic as I do that the Calvinists who believe in predestination and nothing they do will make a difference are giving him hell whereas a lot of the rest of the us who believe in free will seem to feel that we have done all we can and that God's will, will be done?

Cindy i think if you look around the OLD Fr religion forum, you will find it IS THE CALVINISTS that have the most passion for the Gospel and are the least likely to compromise it.

Look and see how often the "arminians" have allowed an opportunity to present the gospel pass, when the calvinist did it instead .

All your post shows is that you do not understand Calvinism and the passion for the gospel it gives.

The "free will " people on this thread should be hanging their collective heads in shame.

You chased off the calvinists as somehow "dangerous" to the precious thread and cheered when we went .

Then you all went about the business of talking cars and movies and making fellowship with darkness contrary to the gospel . So am I surprised that you have lost more Christians than you have converted...nope not one bit.

The problem is that you all thought that playing nice and friendship would convert. That is not what the gospel says ...but for some reason Arminians never give up hope that their personalities or their walk will save .

I've been here plenty long and that has NOT been my experience. You cannot question the "passion for the Gospel" of the Cindys and the MackBeckyS, the Kevins, or dozens of others here without restricting "the gospel" to a "so narrow minded you can seee though a keyhole with both eyes at the same time" definition of the term.

Passion for conflict (for good or bad)? They can take the cake.

The problem is that you all thought that playing nice and friendship would convert.

I think we thought playing nice and friendship would be nice and friendly.

God takes care of conversion, remember? We can witness to our understanding of truth when it is appropriate. But we need not only witness and do so regardless of its appropriateness or tact.

Yet here you are, "making fellowship with darkness".

see how often the "arminians" have allowed an opportunity to present the gospel pass, when the calvinist did it instead .

Not saying yall haven't but has anyone been saved off of any of these threads.

All your post shows is that you do not understand Calvinism and the passion for the gospel it gives.

I though my post showed that I clearly don't understand

The "free will " people on this thread should be hanging their collective heads in shame.

What do I have to be ashamed of? I witnessed (many xs). People are responsible for their own actions.

You chased off the calvinists as somehow "dangerous" to the precious thread and cheered when we went

I did? Some I like, some I don't. Some bore me. I prefer to look at the individual, not the label. Have I ever been rude to you? I don't think so but if you feel I owe you an apology it's yours

Then you all went about the business of talking cars and movies and making fellowship with darkness contrary to the gospel . So am I surprised that you have lost more Christians than you have converted...nope not one bit.

No movies? You too?:') Throw me some scripture on this stuff my way please. Just a little at a x though. I'm only good for about one paragraph and then I go scrolling to see what everyone else talking about :')

The problem is that you all thought that playing nice and friendship would convert. That is not what the gospel says ...but for some reason Arminians never give up hope that their personalities or their walk will save .

More scripture please where we aren't supposed to be nice and friendly when witnessing. Someone comes screaming in my face and they have lost me. If they talk down to me I ignore them.

RnMomof7 ... you have not been around (the NES thread) enough during the last year to make this type of statement.

Unless you have read the entirety of last year's thread, you don't know the entirety of ths discussions which have gone on here.

You don't know to what extent the gospel has been shared on this thread.

OTOH, last year's (NES) participants have been here ... day in and day out. There have been significant discussions between II and each of the other participants on the thread. I don't believe that there is a current regular on this thread who has not been consistent in witnessing to his/her beliefs repeatedly. The gospel is not the only thing that been discussed, but it is one of the consistent topics of discussion. If you'd have been here ... you would know that.

I trust that God will reap from our witness whatever result He desires ...
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
I may be mistaken, but I don't recall that your previous presence on the thread resulted in great multitudes coming to Jesus ... or that your presence stopped anyone from making changes in their beliefs.

I think that you're out of line coming here and castigating anyone.

The feisty old school marm schtick is tired. Let it die.

That is not what the gospel says ...but for some reason Arminians never give up hope that their personalities or their walk will save .

Perhaps you could show me in Scripture where one's "walk" is not a valid witnessing tool. I may have missed that....I am prepared to be deluged with a veritable avalanche of totally irrelevant Scripture on how loving people is really screaming in their face that they're going to Hell. I know you must post those, so carry on. But humor me and throw in at least one or two that are relevant. I wait with bated breath.

I don't think it's wise to get into ugly debates with Christians on this doctrine. I know God is soverign and I will share my opinion as to why when asked but I have little hope, after years of trying, to get people to see it my way.

My dear Calvinist brothers and sisters in Christ,

R7's #1823: i think if you look around the OLD Fr religion forum, you will find it IS THE CALVINISTS that have the most passion for the Gospel and are the least likely to compromise it.

You will pardon me if I set aside my general silence on these subjects and respond to a number of recent posts from you guys.

(I have been absent from this thread for a rather long time.)

I do exhort you to avoid the "I lifted me" talk, sometimes exalting yourselves and running down others, sometimes keeping score (yourselves always in the lead), sometimes presuming to have the mind of Christ regarding who is chosen unto eternal life (always yourselves) and who is cut off (always the other guy), setting yourselves up as judges in that regard.

Romans 3:27a Where is boasting then? It is excluded.
Jesus has called you to meekness and humility, and you need to set a good example in that regard, and confine yourselves to humble, meek, and reverent exhortation. (1 Peter 3:15)

Judgment Day has not yet come, and when it comes, it will be the Lord's day, and there will surely be many surprises for you then, based on the way you think now.

Pray for the gift of discernment. There are true Christians in your midst whom you do not discern.

You use allegiance to non-scriptural creeds to attempt to "cut off" the supposedly "unsaved". That is a gross misuse. Where is your oft-quoted sola scriptura, sola fide, and sola gratia, when creeds are the standard to judge men by, when salvation comes by allegiance to doctrines of men?

Creeds do not save. There is no salvation in creeds.

Jesus saves.

You have my testimony of Jesus Christ, our Lord, our Savior, our Redeemer, who sits in eternal glory in the place of honor at the right hand of God the Father, who will come again in the clouds of heaven as the ancient apostles saw Him go.

You have my testimony of true and living prophets and apostles whom He has sent in our day, and of His Restored Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The Holy Spirit bears witness, and I bear witness, and that is what you may assume as I resume my silence.

Your brother in Christ,
WM
