JS actually attended, and wanted to be a Methodist at one point. He even says so. He thought Methodists were the closest to the truth so far as he could discern at the time.
Thats a far cry from calling all others wicked and evil.
He was wondering which church among all of them was correct. That was the question he was asking.
The answer came back that none had the true gospel.
True, that can be interpreted many ways.
You are just choosing to believe (falsely) that JS hated every other church.
