THE FRONT LINES: Is Catholic Church Apostasy the Cause of Terri Schiavo's Plight? "Bye Bye, I must go now. No more discussion on this matter." 10/16/2003 8:47:00 PM By Barb Kralis
On October 15, 2003, I called Cardinal Ratzinger's office in Rome, wishing beyond hope that I could get the CDF behind Terri Schiavo's plight and defend her life with the many wonderful Church teachings.
I spoke to Fr. Jorge (or it could be Fr. George, but for clarification I will refer to him as Fr. Jorge), who said he was the secretary to Cd. Ratzinger, which means he's the under secretary, as Archbishop Tarcisio Bertone is Secretary of the CDF, with Cd. Ratzinger being its Prefect.
I asked Father to advise me about a serious grave matter happening here in the U.S. and he cut me off, saying that it's impossible to discuss these matters over the phone and that I should go to my own bishop. I told him that my group contacted all of the U.S. Bishops and none are willing to take any action. Fr. Jorge said there was nothing Rome could do about problems in the U.S., that it was up to the American Bishops to work things out.
I implored him to let me tell him a little of the life threatening matter regarding Terri Schiavo and he again said he was unable to comment due to the Curia's lack of jurisdiction over the U.S. Bishops.
Once more I implored him to listen to my story and he agreed sorrowfully to listen briefly. I asked if somehow Cardinal Ratzinger and the Pope could intervene on Terri's behalf as the U.S. bishops were turning their back on her impending murder. Fr. Jorge again said that Rome has no jurisdiction, no competence over what goes on in the United States, that it is the matter for Bishop Lynch. I told him Bp. Lynch wasn't doing anything and Fr. Jorge said he was sorry that this was so hard on so many faithful in the U.S. but Rome nor the Pope nor Cd. Ratzinger could tell Bp. Lynch in his See (St. Petersburg, Fla.) what do so about this matter.
Again, I told him that if Rome didn't intervene, Terri would start to die a most horrible death tomorrow. And, again Fr. Jorge said Rome had no control over the U.S. Bishops (he doesn't know how true his words are!). I pleaded that the Pope surely could intervene with a statement that would influence the federal judge, and he said absolutely not. He said he was truly sorrowful and all the consolation he could give me was to pray for a miracle. I was then cut off quickly by Fr. Jorge with the parting words,
"Bye Bye, I must go now. No more discussion on this matter."
What's going on!
The Catholic Church posses the fullness of truth, the complete moral teachings of our age, yet how many hierarchy are willing to use these 'teachings moments' to defend life when the going gets tough. We can thank God for the Magisterium of the Church, for the official teaching office of Peter and 'the bishops in communion with him.' Now, here's the real problem.
Bishop Lynch and many American Bishops, in my experiences, are not in union with Peter. Therein lies the apostasy as predicted by the Blessed Mother at Fatima. Terri Schiavo's plight is only one of the many evil consequences of the apostasy of American Bishops. How many other innocents will surely follow Terri's martyrdom?
The Protestants are very vocal and physically involved in many areas of pro life activities, but because their religions refute, or 'protest,' the full truths of pro life teachings, they can only go so far; then they begin to contradict their own beliefs, they are unable to convince the masses to the truths which they don't possess nor teach, they fail to get to the root of the evils in our culture, and they'll never be capable of making true change.
Because the Protestants seem to be the only voice heard at Terri plight, many people, including uncatechised Catholics, are flocking to the Protestant churches. Catholics are leaving the True Church in great numbers. Our bishops are fiddling while Rome burns. We Catholic laity have our good apostolates (works) cut out for us, perhaps as never before.

The church of Rome thinks it owns the trademark on 'catholic'. < /sarcasm>
Since everything of any importance (i.e. the entire Bible) happened at the far-eastern end of the Mediterranean it both amuses and saddens me to see how many think that just because an organization says it's "true" that everyone's supposed to accept that. No matter how long they say they've been established remember that Christianity has been in the East longer than it's been in Italy.
Read up on the Emperor Constantine and the Eastern Church and _objective_ histories of Roman Catholicism and you'll see.

Who is "they" and who are "they" coming for?
From what I can gather from the threads on FR, there is some cabal consisting of the RC church hierarchy and the Bush family who are somehow complicit in the murder of some poor woman who has been in some sort of disabled condition for a dozen years. I fail to see evidence of a conspiracy. What am I missing here?
I have not had the time to follow this tragic story and am trying to understand it even though it seems we may be in the final chapters. If you are truly are indicative of the well-intentioned folk who are attempting to protect this poor woman, you are generating a lot more heat than light. You need to adopt a far more meek and quiet spirit for those of us who are trying to understand the story.
To be totally frank, however, your tone and attitude are extremely counterprodcutive to your cause. You confess to be pro-life but you do not exude the graciousness or kindness that typify those who are truly touched by grace.

BTW, why does your pope intercede in capital punishment like in TImothy McVeighs situation and NOT when a woman, like Terri who is innocent of any crime is ignored? Tell me that isn't hypocrisy. Is she Catholic? Is that what makes the difference, Catholics get attention but nonCatholics don't?

I am convinced that the Queen Elizabeth and Greenspan could do something if they really wanted to but they won't because they are part of this evil plot to kill this poor woman. /scarcasm.
These kooks appear to me to be taking morbid advantage of a real tragedy. I believe these are the ones that need to be pilloried. In fact, they truly are doing more harm than good.

"And for your information, many Catholics are coming back to the Catholic Church." Kind of like a dog returning to its own vomit. The RC church is a joke. It dares to call itself the only true church, but consistently fails to discipline itself or its flock.
Scores of pro-choice RC politicians like Ted Kennedy, Cuomo, et al. and the RCC fails to raise a diddling finger to discipline any of these hypocrits. Now they fail to interve for a hopelessly disabled woman and these catholics are shocked. C'mon. The chickens have come home to roost in this hen house.
To mix metaphors, it seems that those in the RCC need to demand a wholesale house cleaning of the stableful of filth in their own hierarchy and congregations before they ridicule protestants and evangelicals.

We've had a mass influx of Catholics into our church. Even the elect will be deceived, obviously.

Stop fighting amongst yourselves. In your rage that no one can stop those two monsters, you instead turn your daggers on each other so you can have the satisfaction of taking your revenge on -someone-, anyone, for this injustice. That doesn't sound like what I've always respected about Christianity to me.
I have to agree with Qwinn here. A close friend of mine just got back from Terri's prayer vigil. She reports that soon after Terri was denied Holy Communion, Pat Anderson (Terri's attorney), the Baptist attorney who first took Terri's case (my friend forget her name, but she told me the Baptist attorney was a lovely lady), and Pete Vere (a canon lawyer who is covering the story for the Wanderer) -- all of whom were on the scene -- engaged in a tele-conference call with Chris Ferrara (an attorney and a traditionalist author who frequently writes for the Remnant, which is the Wanderer's main rival) to try and map out some sort of legal strategy.
I'm not sure where Pat stands on other faith issues, but some of the most vicious religious wars these past couple years have pitted Ferrara and Vere against each other. Throw a Baptist into the mix, and you can imagine what would normally happen. However, through the grace of God, this was not the case from what I was told. Chris, Pat and the Baptist are working closely to map out a legal strategy, and Vere is backing them up where civil law intersects with canon law. We need to follow their lead, pray for Terri, and do what we can to prevent this injustice.

Christ died for your Redemption...you must belong to His Church for your Salvation. Happy hunting.

Let's face it, our Catholic heirarchy is manned by liberals with an agenda. And it's an unhealthy agenda at that.
To: Fifthmark
Indeed, those who have HIS SPIRIT in them belong to HIS CHURCH... that church that stretches back from Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, thru the little girl of today who may have approached the altar to ask Jesus into her life...
"Suffer the little children to come unto me " said Christ..whether those children(and those adults who humble themselves and become as children) do so in a Protestant or Catholic venue, are all accepted by God thru the sacrifice of his son and by the cleansing grace of Christ's poured out blood!
To: mdmathis6
God is one. Truth is one. Faith in God, that is, believing in all He has revealed on the account that He cannot deceive or be deceived, must be one also. To reject part of what God has revealed, to reject his One True Church, and yet maintain that you are united to Him in spirit is a perversion of religion. Your belief must be whole and inviolate, or it is no belief at all.
To: Theosis
That's great that these three are involved. Now if only the Bishop would DO HIS DUTY and stand up for her.
In fact, what we ought to do is flood the diocese with emails demanding he speak out. I'm going to see if I can find the email address and I will post a vanity, asking all to email the Bishop.

I haven't rejected His One True Church, just that thinking that says one religious bureaucracy or others are the true "Christian Religions". The true Christians are those who reflect those fruits of the Spirit as stated in the Scriptures, who've repented of their sins and are seeking His face. No one denomination can claim primacy over an individual's relationship with Jesus Christ, that is reserved for God alone.
That it is important for that individual to join him-self to a local body of believers is important, so that that person might recognize when he has begun to go off track. The denomination only matters in terms of where that individual has been called by God to join with. Notice, I am not bashing one denomination here over the other...all denominations are have their faults and historic mistakes. Human institutions, even those struggling to keep God in focus always will until Jesus himself rules the World!
To: mdmathis6
You're a hopeless optimist and your indifferentism is showing. If Jesus created a Church before He ascended, then it is a divine institution and all are called to belong to it. We know that He did indeed create a Church because He gathered about Him a group of disciples and called it His Church, He promised that His Church would last until the end of time, and He declared that all men must believe and be baptized, that is, join His Church, in order to be saved. The only true Church is the Catholic Church because it alone possesses the marks of the Church Jesus established, namely unity, holiness, Catholicity (Universality), and Apostolicity. No other Church can claim Our Lord as its founder. As far as "denomination" bashing goes, Catholics are taught to tolerate those who profess a false Christianity, but to hold in utter contempt the doctrines they preach which are in opposition to that which Our Lord has handed down to us. Once you realize that truth cannot be contradictory, i.e. that two sects claiming to be Christian and inspired by the Holy Ghost who disagree on a matter of faith or morals cannot both be right, then you will realize the error of what you say. If you wish to defeat heresy and know Our Lord, you might start by asking for the help of the one who kept His will most perfectly on earth - the Blessed Virgin Mary:
"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen."
To: Fifthmark
How do you explain Christ's comment"Before Abraham was...I AM!" ?
Seems like his spritual church has been around longer then any supposed man made institution.
By the way, denonominational issues aside...you don't respond to the issue of one's personal responsibility before God. Forget wafers and creeds...Did you ever PERSONALLY say to Christ.."I am a sinner and I need your forgiveness, please forgive me, and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Put your Holy Spirit inside me so that I might be a new creature in your sight"
Did you ever say anything like that to God? Or words similar?
You can trumpet the pride filled triumphalism of your chosen creeds or doctrines(in the criticism of my so-called optimism regarding the love of God for man) all you want, but can you at least state that at one time, you personally got to the bottom of your self and uttered your own need of God...to God? Forget traditions...we can argue traditions all night...did you ever dare say to God,"It is a fearful thing to fall into your hands...but fall I must"?
Please tell me you have...and I at least can have some respect for your opinions in your last posting to me!
To: mdmathis6
Your comments are baffling. It is not pride to recognize the Church of Christ - it is assent, to His Holy Will. The pride comes in denying that you need His teaching Church to be saved and that what He has built is of no consequence to you. Pride comes in saying, "No Lord, I will not serve the institution you created for my salvation; I will answer only to myself and approach you under my conditions." You may wish to know the Lord, but you can only manage a glimpse of Him if all you know is your interpretation of Scripture.
Did you ever PERSONALLY say to Christ.."I am a sinner and I need your forgiveness, please forgive me, and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Put your Holy Spirit inside me so that I might be a new creature in your sight"
Two prayers I say every day:
"O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen."
"Come Holy Ghost, fill the hearts of Thy faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Thy love.
Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created.
And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
O God, who didst instruct the hearts of Thy faithful by the light of the Holy Ghost, grant that by the same Spirit we may be truly wise, and ever rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen."
In doubting that I even pray to God to ask for His forgiveness and guidance, you show your ignorance of Catholicism, or at the least your prejudice based on the firsthand experience of poor Catholics. I don't doubt your piety at all; I simply think it is incomplete as you do not truly know God.
To: Fifthmark
I have not shown prejudice towards Catholicism. I have not attacked Catholicism directly. In the condemning tone of your posts, you have betrayed your own prejudice towards spirit filled beleivers of other denominations...as a matter of fact I wasn't even quite sure you were Catholic until your last posting.
As for doubting you, it is not a matter of doubt...since I don't really know you...I was asking sincerely whether or not you've ever had a deep heart felt encounter with the "Chief Cornerstone" of our faith...religious differences aside. You turned my question around and stated I was attacking the Catholic faith. My question was to YOU directly...forget the trappings and disputations of traditions...can you say if you've ever encountered God personally?
