VANITY: DIRECTV now carries EWTN.

I've been wanting to get EWTN for many years and for one reason or another I haven't been able to until now. I've been complaining to DIRECTV through call,e-mails and even writing little "love notes"on my month bill. I finally decided to email them one more time before I switched over to DISH-TV. DIRECTV e-mailed me back and said that since July 22nd,this year they have EWTN available but I needed to get my system upgraded. Well, this afternoon the service men came out, upgraded my system, and I now get it! It comes in beautiful. I just thought that some of you who have DIRECTV and who want EWTN would like this information.

I'm glad to hear it! We got the Dish Network in 1996 in order to get EWTN, and before that we listened to WEWN on shortwave radio. We've even been down to the Monastery and met Mother Angelica!

Thank you,EchoLane! Believe you me, I was very close in calling a young man who sometimes visits my parish to come out and install DISH! I'm so glad now that I didn't.I can't believe the size of my new receiver! My old one was almost 3 times the size of the new one. It's so much better. Small, compact! I love it!

It must have been wonderful to meet Mother. When was it? Do you think she'll ever be back on a regular basis? Can she speak now at all? Thanks.

DTV bump, customer satisfaction was supposed to rule the "modern global world", I'm glad it worked for you, for one!

Yes, it was wonderful to meet Mother! We first met her on her 70th birthday April 20, 1993. We had just gotten to the Monastery and she was there in the carport with Sr Raphael and another Franciscan Sister. We have seen her several times at her Live show. She even permitted our family to visit one of the cloistered nuns!

We saw her just before she had the accident that put her in the second back brace, and went yearly whenever possible. We were able to see her after the healing when she could walk again. While I sincerely hope she can make it back to the Live show, she'll need another miracle. That's quite possible!

If you actually go to the Monastery in Irondale, you will be amazed to see how many of the workers are suffering physically. I keep in contact with one of the laywomen at EWTN, and she says that just about everybody that works there has some kind of physical/family suffering, etc. That's part of being a prayer warrior!

We try to go during Easter Vacation, if school is out at that time. I try to contact people in that area by amateur radio when I can. Have you ever visited? We are fortunate enough to live about 6 hours away!

OOps, I should have said second leg brace! I do hope her speech and memory improve enough for her to come back, tho.

Amen. I just got finished watching the 25th anniversary Mass on my direct tv.

I get to watch every single Oakland Raiders game and EWTN yet I keep hearing as a Church we are in bad shape.

Incomprehensible.

Well, a few months back, I was searching on TV-Guide Online for something when I came across station #422-EWTN,indicating Spanish language at that particular time.A few weeks ago I met a young man visiting my parish for our October Fest who was passing out flyers for DISHTV which indicated, and I already knew, carried EWTN. I said to myself,I'll give DIRECTV one more chance.I emailed them and indicated that I noticed that they had EWTN(I erroneously thought)but only in the Spanish language. I wanted to know if they had it in English and if not why not. They emailed me back and said that they did carry it English but I would have to get my system upgraded in order to receive it. Just call them - I think I talked to the Programing dept or the Customer service Dept.and order it.

Thanks for the information. So you just call and they'll come and fix me up?

LOL, I'm the bookkeeper at the church and whenever the priest wants to spend any money he comes and asks me what I think. He said he wanted to get Direct TV so he could get EWTN and I told him that you could only get it on Dish network. He wanted to get Direct TV because the guy who installs it is in OCIA. I guess I'll have to tell him about this tomorrow.
