TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 10/8/03 - GOING DARK!
Posted on 10/08/2003 7:10:21 AM PDT by Rabid Dog
As many of you know this has been a local, regional, national news and views thread. I want to thank all of you that have respected its intent. When I first started this thead, I was on the fence between Arnold and Tom. Within a week, it became clear that Tom was the man I could respect and support.
Within a month it became clear that the CA G.O.P. was not an organization I could respect and support and so I have switched parties and will be changing my screen name to Rabid Dog.
Tomorrow I am entering Freeper Detox and will be drying out for a week or so but am looking foward to discussing the changes in California under the leadership of our new governor - ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER!!

Gee, Norm. I guess you just showed the disunity that is running here didn't you.
I happen to like McClintock and hoped that we could be united. So much for that.
As for being here. Don't presume to tell me where I can or can not post.
Thank you.

Or is it already with the jellified backbone of conservatives?
No viable place to go and afraid that splitting with the RINOcrats will create another opportunity for the Democrats, from which there will be no recovery.
They prefer a slow death to a quick one; in hopes of a Heavenly bailout by many miracles of Biblical proportions.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
The latter part of the verse is emphasized, whilst the former is omitted.

OK. Well good luck to you. I really wish you wouldn't but you have to do what you have to do.
I hope you find it better some where else. I really do. And if not, maybe you'll be back.
Take care.

I was very proud to go to the polls and vote for Tom. In these days when people are willing to vote for any fly-by-night .. I still voted for the person I felt was the most qualified to do the job.
However .. to those Arnold people who called me names because I wouldn't vote for Arnold .. I guess you wasted your breath. I'm not against Arnold and I really, truly hope he does as well as everyone hopes. Surely California deserves a break - we've had 5 years of unbridled liberalism and it has about done this state in .. and the rest of the country is watching.
This morning I am listening to Rush (as usual), and Rush was discussing the combined number of conservative votes - both Tom and Arnold - over 60%. Then Rush said .. "the thing I would like to see is Tom running against Boxer. Now .. that would be a campaign I would support". I hope Tom got that clue! I could not agree more. Tom's strength is legislation .. and certainly the Senate could use a lot of help.

Sniping - your opinion - what's the difference? Sounds like someone forgot to put the trigger locks on the paintguns!

That doesn't explain why the posts is blaiming Arnold supports for showing disunity today. Does it? Nope. Sure it does; your mode of self justification refuses to allow you to see it. Allow me to explain it for you.
Many of Arnold's supporters are the same people as who have been doing the backstabbing to conservatives for those 13 long years, perhaps the singular example of which is the way they worked so very hard to destroy the Simon campaign (and don't deny that because I have the data... but then, data never seems to matter to Party ideologues).
Conservatives had saved this Party with Reagan. Now, the ideological progeny of Nixon to go back to their usual Statist behavior of trying to marginalize the Party base upon whom they depend to get elected.

So Arnold won and his voters are happy but THEY are promoting disunity even though he beat McClintock by 46 - 13 or something like that.
Gee. Yea. That makes sense.
Thank you for your very unifying statement.

It's amazing how the treatment of Simon by the CA GOP gets forgotten, isn't it?

So just be honest. Do you want unity or do you just want to call all the shots. Come on. Be honest.

Your post summed up my thoughts as well.
The CRP really needed to know there are a significant number of us who strongly share the positions represented by TM. As things turned out, in voting for him the message was sent w/out jeopardizing the party's victory.
Hopefully the CRP was listening.

I just love your post! The picture speaks for itself. I will always back McClintock!
I don't dislike Arnold at all but I don't trust him either. He will have to prove to me that he is for Americans and Freedom. To me, he appears to be too much like Bush Jr., appearing as a "moderate Conservative" to the Republican Party.

Pro abort, pro gun control, etc., etc. Anyone that can't get the basics right does not have the foundation to get the rest right. IMO of course.

So just be honest. Do you want unity or do you just want to call all the shots. Come on. Be honest. It is disingenuous for the Party leadership to call for unity when they have already betrayed that principle themselves. So, I would prefer to clean house and let the PEOPLE, the would in this case be registered Republicans, call the shots.
Do you have a problem with that?

"Internet -> Talk Radio -> General Discourse It may not be ideal, but it's enough."I heard Arnold say on the radio that "it doesn't have to be 'either/or' the Ecology vs. Economy" and I've heard that from all the "Consensus Builders," who call everybody a "Stakeholder!" The one's using this phraseology have lacked any genuine sincerity up to now, IMHO.
How can this sweet sounding rhetoric (Arnold's) be captured/pre-empted and co-opted with your "Natural Process" blue-print to gather momentum and "snow-ball?" There has to be a brilliant way to trigger acceptance. Brilliance alone, without a "buy-in" trigger is not enough... "Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb!"

So just be honest. Do you want unity or do you just want to call all the shots. Unity is not an end unto itself. (Germany in the 30's was unified around nazism.) The question is: Unify around what?
Unity is always the first desire of those in power. Always.
To: SierraWasp
I'm writing a pamphlet.
I hope to get it published through the CRA.

If a people can not unify around moral decency, and must even question its meaning, then there can be no unity, IMO.

To: Carry_Okie
Okie-Dokie. That's your call. But I have said on this thread that I like Tom McClintock and wishing different people well. Yet,I see McClintock supporters here demonizing Arnold supporters and threatening to quit the party. So you are way off base on who you are accusing of promoting disunity.
If you want to leave, then leave. I wish you well but please stop accusing others of doing what you are doing.
