TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 10/8/03 - GOING DARK!

Posted on 10/08/2003 7:10:21 AM PDT by Rabid Dog

As many of you know this has been a local, regional, national news and views thread. I want to thank all of you that have respected its intent. When I first started this thead, I was on the fence between Arnold and Tom. Within a week, it became clear that Tom was the man I could respect and support.

Within a month it became clear that the CA G.O.P. was not an organization I could respect and support and so I have switched parties and will be changing my screen name to Rabid Dog.

Tomorrow I am entering Freeper Detox and will be drying out for a week or so but am looking foward to discussing the changes in California under the leadership of our new governor - ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER!!

It's political honeymoon time.

I don't think there'll be one in the Legislature. Oh, Wesson and Burton may be at pains to APPEAR nicey nice for a few weeks, but my sense is that won't give up anything material on spending, taxes, overpaid union contracts, etc. Hope I'm wrong -- and hope that, right or wrong, the Gov. can use his bully pulpit to steamroller Them with initiative after initiative.

Bump to that.

Thank you so much for your dedication, patience and restraint on these threads RD. You are a far better person than I am.

I'm on the fence re changing party alliances. It's only a matter of time before the GOP officially changes its platform. One of the reasons to register with a party is because you share their mission. I can't say that is the case any longer.

There are many disaffected, decline to state conservatives in this state. I may be joining some of you soon.

He put the desires of half the conservative base on the ballot.

Get over it.

You know I am really tired of the Tom McClintock faction here preaching what is a Republican and what isn't. What is a conservative and what isn't. Heck, I even hear them telling people that they aren't Christians because they didn't vote for Tom McClintock.

Now I am sure that Tom McClintock is a good man and he has good principles. But to my mind he is no leader. He doesn't come across that way. He seems to be more of a clerical policy wonk type of guy who would be fine as an administrator but never as an executive. A Senate job would be perfect for him.

But that is neither here nor there. I respect the guy, but not many of his supporters here.

You can disagree with each other, vote differently, or whetever, but when people start telling others that they aren't Christians because they don't vote one way, that is just going TOO far.

And quitting because your guy didn't win. Wow! I'm not sure we need those types of people in the party anyway. Do yuo really think being a "free agent" is going to be anything great? You can go to the DemocRATS. I'm sure they will allow you to have influence in their party. You can go to the Constitution Party or the Libertarians. You will have a lot of say there. No power, but probably some say. You can feel good while the DemocRATS take control of the country because you weakened their opposition.

If you want to take your ball and go home then do it. I'm tired of the complaining. I'll not beg you to stay nor should anyone else. If you don't want to be in the Republican Party then go.

I hope that everything else goes well for you and I wish you well in your future endeavors.

I feel as good about this decision as I did voting for Tom. It is the right thing to do at the right time.

If the CA G.O.P. gets their act together, I'll come back.

You're classless big mouth and a first class jerk to boot.

I see you've been talking to my ex-wife. Hey, go for it if you want to. I can give you the number of my divorce attorney - you'll need it if you want to keep your stuff.

As I have stated before on this forum, my loyalties are to my family, to my nation and to my state - in that order.

I give no loyalties to political parties - smacks of communism/socialism/nazism. And I have to say, the pressure to be loyal to the "Party" and vote for Arnold has been very disturbing to me.

If you switch to "independent," will you still be able to vote in the CA Republican "open primary" election? If not, it would be better to remain nominally Republican.

That is an excellent reason to stay in the Republican party right there! If you can't vote in the primary, you can't vote for McClintock or the other conservatives that you want to win the nomination.

Great point!

Par for the course. You're making no sense, as usual. Thanks for verifying what we all already knew about you.

What a loser! LOL

I'm fairly certain we can vote in the primaries - I believe there was a proposition passed to that effect.
