That is an excellent reason to stay in the Republican party right there! If you can't vote in the primary, you can't vote for McClintock or the other conservatives that you want to win the nomination.

I'm fairly certain we can vote in the primaries - I believe there was a proposition passed to that effect.

My understanding is "decline to states" can now vote in the primaries since the law changed last year. (I think it was last year.)
Maybe some kind person who is more up on the law can post a link or additional information.
