I realize that there are many professional organizations on that list, but they are looking out for their own, just like the labor unions. State spending = jobs for their trades.
Null and Void,
I am 3rd generation Californian. My grandparents came to California from Kansas in 1900.

Hadn't thought of that angle. Wonder how many others of "his followers" will vote yes on recall and then vote for BUST?

Its more crowded because there are less voting locations open. Adding to the perception of a large turnout?

Yes. Infrastructure is the governments primary job. To be spending less than 3% on infrastructure is a travesty. But politicians would rather spend our taxes on "feel good" (read "stay in power") projects like art work and housing for the people who don't want to work!
Our economic system propels itself pretty well if the government builds the tools of capitalist infrastructure: bridges, roads, airports, police, and a minimal safety net for the disadvantaged and disabled. The problem is that the Democrat Party has reversed the prioritys; pandering to the special interest groups of the disadvantaged and disabled and adding a huge list of new special interests - blacks, hispanics, pacific islanders, victims of abuse, victims of victimhood....etc. They have lost sight of the importance of infrastructure. Thus....the economy of Calif is in the tank because there seems to be no limit on the amount of taxes paid by the few left doing productive work the special interest groups can consume!!
You couldn't be more mistaken!

Either way it sets a bad precedent. I say vote no on 53.

I found that ballots with neither "Yes" nor "No" selections are counted as voters in selecting a replacement.
On 30 July 2003, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California held that Elections Code section 11382, which prohibits a voter who has not voted on the first question from voting for a successor candidate, violated the First and Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution. (Partnoy v. Shelley, Case No. 03CV1460 BTM (JFS), RJN, Exh. S.). Secretary of State Shelley does not intend to appeal the court's decision.

So, it appears the onus is on the YES voters to punch the YES chad. Failure to do so may result in absence of majority of voters choosing YES, and recall requires a majority of voters to vote YES. A non-punch is not a vote YES.

Yes, I'm also in Orange County and I thought the paper ballot was a little weird. I did the voting backwards just because it was easy to see the propositions at the end of the ballot, then became preoccupied hunting for Arnold's name in that huge random list (I think it was really IRRESPONSIBLE to print them out of alphabetical order, personally) -- then I sort of "caught" myself, "Oh, there's the question at the top, duh, I need to vote to recall!" There was no good defined breakpoint between that question and the candidates. There should have been a blank gap dividing the recall question from the candidates list. I'm no dummy and no conspiracy theorist, but my heart started to pound a little harder for a second when I realized I almost missed the recall question. I thought I had just been a little too haphazard by starting voting at the end so it's interesting to hear others in O.C. noticed a bit of a problem with the recall question's positioning.

I voted yes on 53 too.

Californians deserve better.

I am quite sure that a no vote on the recall is simply that -- no vote. The court decision just says that a ballot that votes for Tom (or anyone) on Q 2 gets counted, whether or not the person voted on the recall.
I don't think it will make any difference, but the law is that if the vote is:
YES on Recall -- 5 Million
NO on recall -- 4,900.000
Went to the polls, but didn't vote on Q 1 -- 101,000.
Then Davis is still OUT
To: Cboldt
I guess the real question is do we need 51% of voters to choose Yes on the recall, or only more than the number of No votes? i.e. say 100 people voted, 45 yes, 40 no and 15 no vote recorded. Does it pass 53% to 47% out of 85 votes on that question, or does it fail because it only got 45% of 100 total ballots cast?
Hope that question was convoluted enough for you 8-)

Postscript, we have always had punchcard machines in O.C. that worked wonderfully. On the punch card system the recall likely would have had its very own page, making it impossible to miss. (I also wouldn't have been distracted to go to the bottom of the page and get voting for the Props out of the way, grin.) Did they not use the punchcard machines because of the flap about using punchcards in general, or was it seen as not "fair" not to have all the candidates on one sheet?
EVERYONE WITH PAPER BALLOTS -- BE SURE TO MARK OFF THE LITTLE BOX ON THE UPPER LEFT ANSWERING WHETHER DAVIS SHOULD BE RECALLED! :) :) :)
