Vanity: The Democrats and the L.A. Times must be defeated!!

The Los Angeles Times and the Democrat corruption machine must be defeated!! No ifs, ands, or buts about it!

This is bigger than Schwarzenegger vs McClintock, bigger than Republican vs Democrat, and even bigger than conservative vs liberal. This is for our American way of life vs the dark side. Not just for California, but for all of America. The leadership of the Democrat Party and their official party platform of corruption, abortion, homosexualism, socialism, slavery to big government, slavery to over-taxation, slavery to terrorism and willing subjugation to foreign powers and world bodies is pure evil. Yes, I'd rather have a more conservative person than Arnold for California, but sorry folks, looks like the numbers aren't there. And I'm unwilling to take chances on allowing Davis to slip out of the recall or, even worse, to allow Bustamante to win the governorship.

Crushing liberalism is what Free Republic is all about. Gray Davis being recalled by the (mostly Democrat) people of California has got to be one of the greatest defeats for liberalism in recent history. And the additional rejection by the same democrat electorate of the ultra-liberal, illegal-alien-loving, tax-them-till-they-die, Cruz Bustamante will be the coup de grâce!

The Democrats are pulling out all the stops on this one. They see losing California as what it is, a death blow for liberalism. The people of California are sending the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Democrat Party, and Bill & Hillary Clinton a great big rejection slip!

No thanks! Your liberalism, socialism, corruption and evil murderous programs are not welcome!

Send them your own personal message and slap in the face and one they cannot misinterpret and will not soon forget.

Terminate Gray Davis! Terminate Cruz Bustamante! And terminate the idiot Democrat Party and their complicit partners in crime, the Los Angeles Times, et al!

Vote Yes on Recall and vote Yes for the Terminator!!

Well, he was a progressive Republican, and the California Progressives were goo-goos - they wanted to break the hold of the Southern Pacific Railroad and the unions on California. I think he'd have like Prop 13 and most of the initiatives which were intended to limit the legislature's ability to make its seats into sinecures and to opress the population by pandering to special interests.

My guess is he'd go with Arnold. I think he'd like some of McClintock's ideas, but he wouldn't have any patience with the idea of losing to "stay pure" or with the social conservatism (which he'd view as mostly not within the governor's job description)... so, definitely Arnold.

Ditto to your earlier post - we are here as we usually are. Jim did a beautiful job presenting his case. Much like pogo101 did earlier today on the Daily Tom Thread. Stand up all the way - with respect to everyone - every step of the way.

we have never had anything so degraded, so disreputable, and so vile as Harrison Gray Otis and the Los Angeles Times

Except back then Johnson was a Progressive (aka modern day Green Party) and the LA Times was the equivalent of the National Review.

Even more damaging to Democrats. I think all their candidates went to California to campaign for Davis. Boxer and Feinstein used their clout, Jesse Jackson, they all stuck their necks out for him. Think of the put down, the total rejection, when he loses.

And Wesley Clark!

Matthews was on for two hours tonight, replacing Dan Abrams.

It's in the second hour, which will be coming up on the rerun in about ten minutes.

And a nice little bonus here is that a Davis recall and any Republican as governor causes major headaches for Hillary.

Want a really good laugh?

Tonight on Greta's show, at the very end, Major Garrett gave a report on CA recall.

He said that Gray Davis sent out an emergency call to ALL of the DNC presidential candidates, asking for them all to come and appear tomorrow in person in CA to help him win the election.

As me how many are coming. Just ask me.

I think it's unfair to tar the California Progressives as Greens, that's simply not true. California politics were complicated in those days by the corruption of the SP in most of the state, and the unions in San Francisco.

It's true the LA Slimes was a conservative paper then, but what's conservative now and what was conservative then are very different. Otis was a reactionary of the worst sort. My point in posting this Johnson quotation was that the Los Angeles Times' operating method of late smearing has not changed in almost 100 years. Otis was a slimer and his epigoni are slimers. Scum. The whole lot of them!

I wouldn't agree that the Progressives were "green" per se.

While they were a 3rd party, if you look at who ran on their ticket in 1912, Teddy Roosevelt and Hiram Johnson on the BullMoose ticket, they were highly principled and powerful characters unto themselves and their supporters.

The fact that Wilson ended up winning it all was sad for America in more ways than one.

Teddy and Hiram's run in 1912 would be more equivalent to a Reform Party-like attempt in '92 to win the WH,if I read history correctly. But without the long term ramifications, ie, clinton won.

Hiram went on to serve for years in the Senate and was a staunch supporter of governmental reforms thruout his tenure there. A class act , all the way.

Once Arnold wins, on Tuesday, the wars, here, should be over. I know that that's what most of Arnold's supporters want.

FR needs unity; elsewise, the Balkanization will destroy it, as it almost did during the primary/election season of 2000. Is that what we want ?

You know how long it took me to get over the Simon loss? probably no more than a few minutes, at most.

My tagline and posts late that night and the next day were already calling for the Recall of Davi$ long before the radio talk shows surfaced it and fed it life in January.

I wage war as I wage peace, all out ( but not mean-spiritedly unless provoked which both sides have done plenty of these last 2 months).

I won't whimper either, but I may need a larger grog ration for a day or two. ;-)

(Does all that sound OK to you?) FRiend :-)
