Rush a 'Little Frustrated' by Drug Allegations
fox ^ | 10-03-03

Political commentator Rush Limbaugh (search) returned to his popular radio program Friday and said he was "frustrated" about allegations that he was involved in the sale and use of illegal drugs.

Limbaugh was back on the air one day after his name surfaced as the possible target of a criminal probe into the sale and use of illegal drugs in south Florida.

On the national program, which is carried by about 650 stations across the country, Limbaugh spoke briefly about the allegations of his drug use but avoided going into specifics. He said he was "a little frustrated" that he had not "gotten to the bottom" of what was happening.

"The story in Florida really is an emerging situation ... I don't really know the full scope of what I'm dealing with," he said. Limbaugh said he'd been humbled by all the supportive e-mails he'd received from fans, estimating he'd received about 25,000.

As for all the media stories that have emerged about the drug investigation, Limbaugh said that he was "tempted" to respond to them but "I'm not going to go there."

But he vowed to discuss the case in detail in the future.

"Rest assured, I will discuss this with you and tell you how it is ... maybe more than you really want to know about this," he said.

I did not get that from what he said, and I listened very carefully. I don't know that he doesn't have a problem, but I didn't hear what you heard.

What I heard him say was "I'll talk more once I find out if she really has a tape or not." Sorry, but that's the way I see his denial. I haven't heard such parsing of words since Clinton tried to explain what the definition of "is" was.

5???

I hope they were the 2.5mg.....5 #10s would have the average joe or jane heaving and perhaps needing emergency care unless they had a nice tolerance built up.

I think he said "trust me" in that he'll admit everything sooner or later. Probably as soon as his lawyer finds out just how strong the evidence is.

I think it was Rush who I first heard use the term "lawyered up". Now look who's lawyered up. That show today was sad. I'll bet the callers were screened today.

The callers are screened every day on every show. That goes for radio and TV and especially C-SPIN, in case you never noticed.

"lawyering up" is exactly what he needs to do right now. he has powerful enemies.

I'll bet the callers were screened today.

And you would win that bet. As all of his calls are screened every single day since day one of his radio career. As are all callers to every talk show in America.

Its always easy to bet on a sure thing.

I've heard him say many times he doesn't screen callers. He's constantly saying that so the liberals will call. Or at least that's what he's always said.

"You have a steel trap mind. Unfortunately it has already sprung."

And I notice you still haven't answered the question. One can only presume, then, that since you have already pronounced Rush guilty without benefit of trial or jury or any of those things, and since you have not proclaimed that you do, indeed, believe in 'innocent until proven guilty' then you must not believe in it at all.

And I find it amusing that you pooh pooh the same sort of logic you've used to pronounce Rush guilty. LOL

He did the smartest thing he could possibly do. He refused to go on record regarding an active investigation. Any thing else would be legal suicide. He's a class act all the way.

I've never heard him say that he never screens callers. He says he doesn't screen them due to ideological differences, which is different. He just said today that the callers who do disagree with him go to the top of the queue.

He has probably been gagged by his lawyers--Anything you say can and will be used against you by the liberal media- - uh- - in a court of law.

You are hearing things. Have you never heard him refer to his call screener Mr. Snerdly?

What you probaby heard, and have totally screwed up in your memory is his saying that liberals and those who disagree with him will be put to the front of the line.

Phantom Lord is correct, he does screen calls. In fact, it is his policy to put those who disagree with him at the front of the line.

Rush still has my prayers. I am going to withhold judgement until all the facts are in. No matter what happens, I still wish him all the best.

Yep, all those black market meds landed in Rush's lap through a vast leftwing conspiracy.

You have more in common with Hillary than you know.

Well, what if his maid was picking up his medication for him. Now this, and he's not sure of his culpability in the matter, because she was using his scripts to pick up the medicine. I am pretty sure with Schedule 2 narcotics, it has to be the name on the script who picks up the pills. Maybe he's not sure what he's being investigated for, and is hesitant to say anything.

Also, don't a lot of celebrities "pay off" hired help and get them to sign some type of confidenciality (sp?) pledge so they won't go and sell their personal info to questionable people?

He has to wait. Me, if I was innocent, I would say so, maybe he's done something, even little, and so he can't say anything.

I'm about done on this though. I can only spec so much on what's gone down. His message is right, its still right, and its mine also.

Hopefully he'll be forthcoming, and soon.

Just last week I heard a guy call, and you could hear the radio on, and he was having trouble talking, so Rush told him to turn his radio down. The show is 5 sec tape delay. And they operate out of his house. How big do you think a home studio is? He has one screener, and always has.

When I said "no delay," I was responding to the notion that he had like a two-minute delay. Yes, I agree with you---and Rush has mentioned this---that he has a 5-7 second delay to allow him to "deedle" profanity.
