Rush a 'Little Frustrated' by Drug Allegations

Political commentator Rush Limbaugh (search) returned to his popular radio program Friday and said he was "frustrated" about allegations that he was involved in the sale and use of illegal drugs.

Limbaugh was back on the air one day after his name surfaced as the possible target of a criminal probe into the sale and use of illegal drugs in south Florida.

On the national program, which is carried by about 650 stations across the country, Limbaugh spoke briefly about the allegations of his drug use but avoided going into specifics. He said he was "a little frustrated" that he had not "gotten to the bottom" of what was happening.

"The story in Florida really is an emerging situation ... I don't really know the full scope of what I'm dealing with," he said. Limbaugh said he'd been humbled by all the supportive e-mails he'd received from fans, estimating he'd received about 25,000.

As for all the media stories that have emerged about the drug investigation, Limbaugh said that he was "tempted" to respond to them but "I'm not going to go there."

But he vowed to discuss the case in detail in the future.

"Rest assured, I will discuss this with you and tell you how it is ... maybe more than you really want to know about this," he said.

First post ever, so be kind. I'm a huge Rush fan and conservative. I hope beyond hope that he is innocent in this matter. But I did notice one comment today that no one has mentioned yet. When Rush was in the 2nd hour, talking about how he can't tell us anything yet, etc., he used the phrase "come clean" when referring to eventually giving us the facts. Why would he need to come clean if he hasn't done anything wrong? That is bothering me. Freudian slip? I really hope not.

I agree, except in this case, the guy stopped going to the gym and the golf course and ate nothing by fast food and twinkies.

Why would he be foolish to say, "I neither illegally acquired prescription painkillers nor asked or allowed anyone to do so for me"?

The maid may have acquired them illegally using Rush's name without his knowledge

Good point about the "come clean" statement. I'm not trying to defend Rush regardless, just don't think he needs to confess ANYTHING (guilt or innocence) on the air. His lawyers would have told him to keep quiet and he did.

Rush is a skilled talker. I doubt it was an accident. This comment, and his earlier one about folks not liking everything they would hear, are probably meant to prepare his audience for some bad news.

I listened to him everyday last year, and he never sounded out of sorts. I can only catch a half hour of the show now because my lunch time has changed. He is the only one who keeps me sane about politics. I will still listen to him. I couldn't handle what goes on without his rational analyses.

Last weekend defending Rush and now getting hammered for being pissed at him if he is guilty.

Could it be he is simply waiting to hear what all is said and then let the police tell the world that he didn't do anything and sue the housekeeper and the tabloid for all the lies they put out.
Even if he said he didn't do anything wrong now, other than his supporters, would anyone really believe him?
I'm thinking he wants to use everything the woman and tabloid says/prints against them.
Also does he want to avoid getting into a tit-for-tat, she said/he said type thing?
