Rush: I'll Tell All on Painkiller Story
Newsmax.com ^ | 10/03/03 | Carl Limbacher and NewsMax.com Staff

Posted on 10/03/2003 9:48:28 AM PDT by kattracks

Addressing for the first time allegations that he's under investigation in Florida for abusing prescription painkillers, talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh promised his audience that he'd tell them everything he knew "as soon as I know what I'm up against."

"The story in Florida, it really is an emerging situation," Limbaugh said at the top of his Friday broadcast. "I watch what's being reported on television and it changes from morning to morning, hour to hour, day to day.

He continued:

"I don't know yet what I'm dealing with here, folks. I really don't know the full scope of what I'm dealing with. But when I get all the facts, when I get all the details of this, rest assured that I will discuss this with you and tell you how it is."

Limbaugh pledged, "I'll tell you everything there is - well - maybe more than you want to know."

Sounding confident and strong, Limbaugh said he'd received more than 25,000 supportive emails since he was hit with twin controversies over his comments to ESPN and allegations from a former housekeeper that she obtained for him thousands of painkilling pills over the last four years.

"I can't tell you how much I appreciate the notes, all of the expressions of support. It means everything to me, as has your support over these many years," the top talker said.

Fair enough Rush!

All your supporters should give you the benefit of the doubt and allow the evidence to be analyzed and evaluated first, before any conclsuions are reached.

It would be very easy for a hostile "witness" to turn legitimate use of painkillers into an "addiction" by embroidering facts, exaggerating, or outright lying.

I suspect she has picked up legal drugs from that pharmacy which was raided last may. Maybe she or the pharmach has made duplicates of his prescription to double up the order and sell the rest illegally? Then blame it on Rush.

Come on Rush...how hard is it to just answer the question...if you did an illegal wrong, fess up to it

If he's under investigation, then he doesn't need to be saying hardly anything about this. This is why the answers are vague right now. Any attorney in their right mind would tell him to shut up about it until later.

Freepers.

The maid wore a wire.

We are all assuming that all she heard were conversations related to drugs. The wire may have very well picked up other, unrelated, legal but embarrassing moments. Perhaps even embarrassing to his wife or his advertisers.

If I was Rush's attorney, I would urge Rush to avoid this subject as well until they've had access to the tapes and had a chance to study them, especially if there's a chance that portions may become public in one way or another.

Second - it is ridiculous to believe that Rush used a maid to get his drugs. Sounds suspiciously like the "maid" was a liberal plant; she's hardly a trusted source. So who planted her and why?

I did, and couldn't believe what I heard.

So what did you hear?

I remember a long time ago when Rush's show first aired nationally, he said the liberals were upset because they couldn't find any skeletons in his closet. He told the listeners that he had a pretty boring life.

I'm waiting to get he scoop on this one. It wouldn't suprise me a bit if it was a set-up.

You mean like quitting?

You are just plain ignorant.

Oh I did turn it off. I'll come back when he stops doing the non-denial denials that he criticized others for doing.

He is talking mostly about ESPN. He only spent a few minutes saying he wouldn't talk about drugs. So now that you are not listening you have no reason to make statements.

That it was illegal drug use, and that went against everything I had heard broadcast to this point.

My question was related to whether anyone else had heard the same thing, or if what was being reported had changed. My apologies for failing to make that clear.

The first commercial segment on our radio station had an ad for some kind of sex study regarding men and their inability to ejaculate. I was quite offended because it was lunch time, and my children were listening. (we homeschool, so we do have children at home who are old enough to ask, "Mom, what does ejaculate mean?") I don't know if this ad runs every day because I rarely listen anymore. I hear those stupid acne ads asking for participants in case studies. I DO NOT care to listen to ads asking for sexually disfunctional males to volunteer for case studies. Is this a national ad?

As for Rush and his non-answer to the drug question, I was disappointed. But it's his business and his life, so he can handle this mess however he sees fit. We're all human, and we all make mistakes. I wish him well.

Sounds as if there is a there there. What's wrong with saying "I never bought drugs illegally." "

It kinda sounds like;
"I never bought drugs illegally. had sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinski"

What blows me away is how many Rush-haters there are on this forum.

Liberals can log on too. They have been here in full force since Tuesday evening.

The maid wore a wire.

Very easy to say that when you know damn well its illegal for her to do so, and it cannot be used in court or broadcast on the news. Oh. Yeah they have a tape, just can't play it. Right!

He knows that even the most innocent remarks can be twisted, so he's saying nothing whatsoever until they tell him what they think he did - which may be never.

Exactly! When you are being stalked, stalk 'em back. They may just be setting up something else, waiting for a mistatement to blow out of proportion. Rush is no Elvis Presley.

Rush quit rather than fight on. Maybe he was hopped up on goofballs and could not think straight.

"Mom, what does ejaculate mean?")

Tell your kid to look up the meaning in the dictionary.
