California: Arnold Fesses Up and People Are Mad -- at the Messenger
Los Angeles Times ^ | October 3, 2003 | Steve Lopez

Posted on 10/03/2003 6:57:13 AM PDT by John Jorsett

SAN DIEGO — Reports of Arnold Schwarzenegger's sexual mistreatment and humiliation of women drew outrage here Thursday on the campaign trail.

Outrage at the Los Angeles Times, not at Arnold.

I would have thought that at a gathering of conservatives, who rightly vilified President Bill Clinton for his raunchy scandal and nationally televised lies, there'd at least be some finger-wagging at Arnold.

Not a chance with the Teflon Terminator.

In San Diego, one Arnold supporter after another bashed The Times, and the beating continued at a second appearance in Costa Mesa, where hundreds of Arnold supporters roundly booed the mere mention of the paper.

Quite a few folks on this forum have been exposed for the mindless hypocrits they are. These people are as inconsistent as they come, and are in reality no better than the Clinton Sucker Moms.

If you believe this you have a serious inability to discern simple moral distinctions.

Abusing one's elected office to carry on and cover up one's sexual indiscretions cannot be compared to simply being young and acting irresponsibly.

Those who compare what Clinton did to what Arnold is accused are seriously impaired both mentally and morally.

Sexual assault is not "acting irresponsibly". It's a crime.

These smears are hurting Arnold. His probability of winning the governorship, per the Iowa Electronic Markets, have fallen to 73%. The beneficiary of the slime campaign is Gray, whose probability of remaining in office has climbed to 16%. Cruz, at 11%, appears to be well out of the race, as is everyone else (a mere 0.2% for the lot of them).

The likely vote for the recall has slipped to 55%, and Arnold's likely vote on the second part of the ballot has slipped to 40% (to Cruz's 37%).

McClintock's role is firmly entrenched, as it has been from the beginning, as nothing more than potential spoiler for the Repubs.

The L.A. Times is finished as a serious newspaper, as far as I'm concerned.

It took you this long to figure that out?

Oh we need not even go so far as to consider the LAT quip at Conservative hypocrisy. The reason the Time's slime can be so easily ignored is that they have no crediblility. "Credibility!" That thing that you earn by consistently telling the truth.

If the LAT wants it, I suggest that they take the next decade to try to earn a little of it.

I'm wondering when the Los Angeles Times is going to release the report that back in 1984 Arnold was going around town brutally killing women with the name Sarah Connor and shooting up a police department after telling the cop at the watch desk, "I'll be back.".

Oh, my gosh. I was a witness to that event! Does that mean I'll be subpoenaed now? :)

LOL!

I supported Alan Keyes during the primary. Most foolish thing I've ever done! The guy is a genuine whackoo! He alone must have chased a huge portion of our base away. I strongly urge him to create his own party so as to unite the principled pure, so that they not dilute our party any further.

You ought to take a gander at the latest SurveyUSA poll, not Iowa gambling.

In that poll, following the smear, the numbers were:

39% - never vote for Arnold
10% - were going to vote for Arnold, but won't now
12% - were not going to vote for Arnold, but now will
40% - were and still will vote for Arnold

40% + 12% = 52% voting for Arnold. Remember that is a survey of Californians, not a futures bidding market, and it has Arnold winning in a landslide.

Go visit the Iowa Electronic Markets website and read their papers documenting that their election markets are virtually always more accurate than survey polls. In a survey poll one commits nothing. In the IEM, one votes with his pocketbook. The pocketbook trumps nothing.

I think you meant that "the pocketbook trumps everything."
even in their gambling, they still have Arnold's chances of being the next governor at about 75%.

There is a significant difference. The most recent charge had eye witnesses who disagree with what the woman said.

As for the other charges, I've been on movie sets, concerts and I worked out for years at Golds in Venice. Women throw themselves at the stars. I've seen some outragous things.

I'm not excusing the specific behaviour IF it is true... I do find it hard to believe that someone who has 5,10,20 women a day coming on to them would have to behave that way. If Clinton had stuck to the media and NOW sluts, he probably wouldn't have had a problem.

I don't really buy anything the LA Times writes, and I'm hearing all the people on movie sets that are speaking up for him, saying what a gentleman he always was. Who to believe? Who knows, the I wouldn't bet on the LATimes.

I'd know my sister and daughter, and they wouldn't not say anything for almost 30 years and then try to pretend to be traumatized by it.

As for "admiting it", you first.

Stand up here and admit to everything you've ever done in the past, every little thing, saying something bad about someone, cheating on your taxes, not working at work while getting paid, etc.... don't wait til someone catches you, just stand up now and confess.

Men who grope have deep, serious psychological problems, and my guess is that this is just the tip of a very dysfunctional iceberg. Yeah, they have the XY chromosome dysfunction.

A brilliant retort. we have a tendency to over-psychoanalyze dont we.

One is Democrat, the other is Republican. All other differences are mental fluff whipped up by the enablers of each boor.

Are you relishing in your agenda?
