KDKA Radio (Rush outlet)- Pittsburgh morning team blasting Rush over Mcnabb, drugs
KDKA radio | 10/02/03 | na

KDKA radio Pittsburgh - the Rush outlet here - is blasting him this morning. Larry Richert..even sports guy Goose Goslin. They're slamming him all over the place....talking up the alleged addiction to drugs...saying his career is over...very happy about it.

Not only that they're blasting anyone who listens to Rush...the dittoheads...anyone who thinks his comment on Mcnabb wasn't racist.

Goose is saying Rush should get piled on...he's done it to everyone else (implying x42 & dems) but they couldn't respond. Time Rush gets a taste of his own medicine...can't handle it...career going down over one stupid remark...

Makes ya want to spit.

On other threads, they say Rush is
in Philly at an NAB meeting, to
speak & maybe get an award. I know
yesterday Rush announced he would
be absent today.

Interesting that it's Philly, and that the acronym NAB echoes McNabb. And ironic that he will be getting an award the day after resigning a high-profile job. But then, I'm easily amused.

Just one word. BLACK. But if you're not black you can not mention it. Oooops.

Rush could have said what he said on his show, and no one would have batted an eyebrow.

The Left was looking for an opportunity to employ some character assassination against Rush, and since his observation regarding McNabb was stated outside the realm of his program, the Left went used it to try to take him down a couple of notches.

If non-blacks can't use the word "Black", then why don't we take a cue from French Connection UK (FCUK) and use "Blcak".

Rush actually spent part of his early career working at WTAE radio in Pittsburgh. He reported to my father in law, who was then program manager.

Bogut WAS morning AM radio in the 'Burgh. Loved hearing about the Farkleberries and about how, somehow, every year the hospital donations got larger and larger.

Hmmmmm... When I grew up, Rege Cordic had the AM slot on KDKA, so I could be a bit confused whether it was Rege or Bogut who did the farkleberry schtick. Maybe it was Bogut, and Cordic did the Old Frothingshlosh commercials. Too many cobwebs on those memories, it was long, LONG ago!

Nope. He was known as "Batchelor" Jeff Christie on "fun lovin' KQV, audio 14".
He also worked at Pittsburgh's WIXZ, 1360, but not WTAE.

Okay, I just checked -- my father-in-law ended up at TAE, so I thought that's where Rush worked for him. Below is where they worked together -- Mark Roberts is my dad-in-law; he started out as on-air talent and ended up program director when Rush worked there.

1360 WPTT MCKEESPORT PA talk
WIXZ was owned in the late 60's by Wain & Weiss who made the station a carbon copy of their successful top-40, 1260 WIXY in Cleveland. Jeff Christie (Rush Limbaugh) and voice-over artist Mark Roberts were a couple of the voices you could hear on the air. If you take a further step back, you will find that 1360 was once WMCK with a callsign that could truly identify its location. At that time it had the "TL" Sound and Terry Lee's Music for Young Lovers which carried over to WIXZ. In the mid-90's, Serena Communications and Renda Broadcasting became one, joining WIXZ with WSHH and WJAS. WIXZ was the first station to carry all-sports and was running Prime Sports Radio and then Sports Fan Radio. When Jack Bogut started at WJAS in 1997, Bruce Keidan's show was moved over to SportsRadio WIXZ. Not long after, WTAE-AM decided it was going to fully change formats. WIXZ soon became 1360 WPTT with a talk radio format. Bruce Keidan did a short-lived non-topical show in the mornings followed by Lynn Cullen from WTAE at Noon. Early on, Keidan returned to the Post-Gazette. Syndicated host Doug Stephan and local Jerry Bowyer currently take care of the mornings. Doug Hoerth joined the gang in early 1999 and holds forth from 3-6 in the afternoon. Mixed in on this week signal are Bill O'Reilly, Jim Bohannon, Mike Gallagher and George Noory's AM Coast-to-Coast.
