I posted this on another thread and got not on single answer, I'll post it again here and see if I get the same.
Has anyone thought about what might happen if McClintock drops out and davis then cuts loose with some serious dirt on Arnold?
And I'm just asking the question admitting full well that I support McClintock in this.
This is not an Arnold slam etc., simply a what if scenario.

The implaction of your question is that you are desparately hoping that some bombshell will STILL get your boy elected. Can't tell you how that nauseates me. Your guy has lost. He becomes more of an embarassement with each passing day.
Schwarzenegger might be effected by a few percentage points at this stage of the game, but he isn't going to be knocked out.
What your boy has facilitated is a scenario that sees Schwarzenegger damaged by the few percentage points necessary to facilitate Tom's denial of a victory to republicans, and the election of Cruz Bustamante.
Tom will play hell getting elected to any future statewide office unless Schwarzenegger has the good grace to support him, when Tom wouldn't give him the sweat off his b---s in this race.

For what it's worth: a Sacramento Bee reporter was on KSFO-AM (San Francisco) this morning, and was asked about Davis sliming Arnold this week. He said the inside dope in Sac. is that if Davis had more slime, he would have used it by now.

The ballots have already been printed, and McClintock's name will appear. He cannot pull out in a legal terms, only in political terms by announcing he is withdrawing and urging his supporters to vote for Arnold.
So if on Election Eve Davis produces evidence proving that, in fact, Arnold is an evil cyborg, Republicans could still flock back to McC.
Bottom line, there is everything to gain and nothing to lose by McC withdrawing NOW!

I was listening to KFI this morning, they have a section called total recall and it appears that the LA Times has not been able to dig up any more dirt on Arnold. It looks like the Oui Magazine piece was as bad as they could get.

Do you really believe that any "dirt" will stick to Arnold? I mean... what is known now has made little difference. As a movie star... most of what Arnold did and said is probably already known. If not, will it be that shocking in California?

Well, what if Davis realizes he is going to lose and by imperial edict, suspends the Constitution of the State of California, declares a state of emergency, outlaws the Republican Party and orders the arrest of all Conservatives?

In that scenario it will be even more imperative that Mcclintock drops out in order for Arnold to win. Right now he may not need Mcc to drop out. However, if Mulholland drops a bomb than Arnold will need those Mcc votes immensely in order to avoid a Davis-Bustamante-Clinton win.

Bikers: Arnold has established himself as someone who does have frequent sex, has used drugs, and so on and on. Unless we see him do something so beyond the pale as to absolutely nauseate Californians, I think he's done an impressive job innoculating himself against scandal.
Californians are pretty hard to nauseat. We've seen it all around here.
Smoker, the problem with that scenerio is that the recall would most likely fail. I think most Democrats would rather see Davis than McClintock, and they would vote accordingly.

Are you hoping that Davis does what he does best and unleash material from the sewers of Mulholland's mind?

If Arnold goes down, Davis stays. Doesn't matter whether McClintock stays in or not. Same result either way.

Has anyone thought about what might happen if McClintock drops out and davis then cuts loose with some serious dirt on Arnold?Yeah, Davis' poll numbers will slide further into the toilet. Arnold has already innoculated himself by warning of Davis' last-minute "desparation" attacks.
To: Bikers4Bush
If that happens, I feel certain that Arnold will win in a landslide! I think most voters are sick of the Davis attack methods.
Davis is toast!
To: Bikers4Bush
I'm going to try to stay above the fray and just make this point saying nothing else on the election.
Ballots have (or will be) printed with McClintock's name on the ballot. So his name will appear on the ballot (as will Simon's) because they qualified to run. McClinton could drop out and drop back in if he really wanted to. "Dropping out" would do nothing officially. It would only say to voters -- don't vote for me, cast your votes for someone else.

Not only have many of us thought of this but it's also been considered a strategy.I have never been one of the Tom should get out now crowd and several polls have shown that Arnold will win even with Mclintock in the race.I hope that Republicans will be pragmatic when they vote and if not at the very least Toms supporters will vote yes on the recall.
