I think it was recorded the same day at the same event where Franken attacked O'Reilly for saying that he won a Peabody award.

Two other threads running on this program. Brian Lamb always tapes Booknotes about a month ahead of time. This is the first it has been shown.

A frank in depth examination of this issue from a very knowledgeable speaker. The concept of Balkinization is very important.

Excellent presentation on illegal immigration and its ramifications to be repeated at 11:00PMEST - Hanson talks about how everyone is happy with the status quo - farmers in California get cheap labor, Mexico gets rid of a lot of malcontents who otherwise would be marching for higher wages, La Rasa gets a lot of disaffected people as members, etc., but that the results are tragedy for the immigrants, who are routinely victimized but have no legal status to seek redress, and for Americans who have no way of coming to grips through the system with problems caused by the immigrants - I will probably buy a copy as a Christmas present for my very conservative farmer nephew-in-law who sees no problem in employing immigrants of questionable legality because "Americans won't work for what I can afford to pay them".....

I believe that the international signal of a ship in distress is flying a flag upside down. Every Californian needs to fly his California state flag upside down until the state is going in the right direction, particularly if Bustamante wins.

The state of California is a ship that is sinking---fast.

Actually, I don't think C-SPAN reruns any of the Booknotes programs with Brian Lamb. A program is shown at 8 p.m. Sundays, then repeated at 11 p.m. Sunday and again at 6 a.m. Monday, all Eastern Time.
