Border Patrol Stops Immigrants' 'Freedom Ride' Buses
Yahoo News ^ | 9-26-03 | AP-Chris Roberts

Posted on 09/26/2003 3:18:30 PM PDT by JustPiper

EL PASO, Texas - Two buses carrying nearly 100 people making a "Freedom Ride" to bring attention to mistreatment of undocumented immigrants were stopped for nearly four hours Friday at a U.S. Border Patrol station.

The riders were asked to leave the buses and were questioned, said Hilda Delgado, a spokeswoman on the buses. All were later released, and the buses were back on the road to San Antonio by about noon.

Border Patrol officials in El Paso confirmed that two buses were stopped, but said they were still gathering information. A message left at the checkpoint near Sierra Blanca, 75 miles east of El Paso, wasn't immediately returned.

Delgado, who said she is a U.S. citizen from Los Angeles, wouldn't say whether any of the individuals on the buses were in the country illegally. She said they held up Freedom Ride cards to officials who questioned them.

The cards say that the ride is peaceful, that they exercise their right to remain silent, that they don't consent to a search and don't give up any rights. The card also has the name of a lawyer to contact.

"We have been singing solidarity songs on the bus," Delgado said. "We are trying to expose the injustice of current policies toward immigrants."

Delgado said the people on the bus represent 10 million undocumented immigrants who contribute $730 million each year to the U.S. economy.

"They want to reunite with their families and contribute to the economy," she said. "Our immigration laws need a road to citizenship."

The cross-country caravan, backed by organized labor, began Saturday. Nearly 1,000 people were to join the ride, with 18 buses planning stops in communities including Washington and New York.

We can feel better now that the Bush Administration is preparing to buy French made AS350 helicopters to patrol our borders.

undocumented = illegal=prison + deportation

Prison is not an option. Not that it's not deserved, but because our prisons don't have room for even 1% of the illegals in this country. Besides, that would mean that we taxpayers would again have to subsidize the illegals.

I think a better solution would be to:

1. Sieze all money transfers sent out of this country by illegals. That money should be used solely for securing the borders and enforcing immigration law.

2. Deport all illegals to the capital city of the country from which they came. They should be bussed directly from the airport to the seat of that country's and dropped at its steps.

3. Levy a fine against the government of origin for each illegal we capture and deport. The fine should consist of two parts: the actual expenses for the capture and deportation, and a punative amount.

My point is that they may not even buy US made helicopters for this job. The contract may be worth up to 250 millions dollars.

Wow, they each contribute $73.00 to the economy for a whole years worth of illegal work.

That's because they send the rest of the money back to Mexico!

Delgado said. "We are trying to expose the injustice of current policies toward immigrants."

Why don't they address the real problem, the injustice of current policies toward Mexican People, by the Mexican Government.

And don't forget the Catholic bishop's role in trumping the Border Patrol. The RCC is happy to have every Mexican it can get into the US...always useful to have the ignorant and devout to fill the pews...and then they lobby for every tax-payer funded program they can possibly administer. Now this is where there ought to be separation of church and state.

Does anyone but me notice that the so-called big Republican party people on this site avoid threads like this like the plague?

It's been duly recorded Joe. Been that way for quite some time. I get the feeling that they don't like to be confronted with the unholy facts about George Bush's Open Borders Agenda and how it is plundering America's sovereignty, culture and wealth. These folks are basically Power Worshipping Types that put the Party over Country.

This is such an f-in outrage, and it's being totally ignored, and given a green light by President Bush and Tom Ridge, and the rest of the freaking *&^% in DC.

What goes around comes around. By this time next year, with another million or so Illegals running around the country and thousands more job losses due to unfair trade deals and outsourcing there's going to be quite a few politicians looking for a new job. They have a rude awakening coming right their way.

Troops on the Border
H.R. 277 Allows American Soldiers to Assist the Border Control
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY (greater detail below):

Rep. Virgil Goode has reintroduced a bill (H.R.277) that would authorize the Secretary of Defense to assign members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps to assist the Department of Homeland Security in the performance of border protection functions.

We need your help to get additional cosponsors for this critically important legislation. It is foolhardy, if not insane, to consider going to war while our borders are left wide open. Please send email an letter to your Representative today. Thank you!

************************************ Throughout the world, American soldiers have rooted out terrorism, maintained the peace and controlled disputed borders.

In Haiti, Bosnia and the Middle East, American peace keepers have demonstrated, not just their courage, but their expertise in handling difficult situations.

Wherever there is a problem, American soldiers can be relied upon to get the job done -- except here, on America's own borders. Why is that?

Every year, our border crisis worsens. First, it was drugs. Then disease. Then, it was illegal aliens, crossing by the hundreds and then by the millions. And now, terrorists are crossing our borders, determined to rain more death and destruction down upon us.

If there were ever a time for the United States to put troops on the border, this is it!

We are in a state of war. And we are fighting enemies who have brought the battle to our shores.

That is why I am happy to report that we are working closely with Congressman Virgil Goode (I-VA) who has introduced H.R. 277, a bill that would authorize the Secretary of Defense to assign members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps to assist the Department of Homeland Security in the performance of border protection functions.

We are very grateful to Rep. Goode for introducing this critically important legislation and promised him we would do everything within our power to help him get his bill passed as quickly as possible ... before another disaster strikes our nation. The first and most important thing we can do to help is to get cosponsors for his new legislation.

I had hoped that the shock of September 11th would have aroused even the most apathetic of our elected officials ... but I was wrong. Although you and I know that our undefended borders remain an open invitation to terrorists, illegal aliens and drug smugglers, many Congressmen are acting as if we have no national security problems.

Of course, nothing could be further from the truth. Despite the fact that we now have a new Cabinet-level Department of Homeland Security and the President has used his authority to put National Guard troops at America's airports, our borders are still wide open.

Amazingly, our government continues to permit some organizations to put out food, medicine and clothing along the routes illegal aliens use to sneak into our country. They continue to allow this in the aftermath of 9/11 and with the knowledge that, since 9/11, Arabs, hiding among the illegal aliens, have been captured by the Border Patrol.

Every national poll conducted reveals overwhelming support for putting troops on the border ... even before 9/11. Of all the things our government could do to secure our nation, putting troops at our borders would be one of the least costly, most effective and cause the least interruption of American's daily lives.

Instead, our government federalized all the airport security personnel and gave them specific instructions not to look for suspicious looking characters, but to harass every airline passenger equally. And that is why they waste their time forcing poor old ladies with arthritic fingers to remove their shoes to search for explosives!

They are doing all this nonsense while illegal aliens are crossing are borders are the same rate as before 9/11. If 5-10,000 illegal aliens can walk across our borders in a single day, how difficult do you think it is for terrorists to get across?

For too many years, Congress has been brainwashed by the well-funded special interest groups who have convinced them that the American people want open borders and mass immigration. Many continue to believe they will be thrown out of office if they support programs to control our borders and slow immigration.

One way to convince them to do the right thing is to show them that the American people are behind them. They will get that message clearly when they start to receive thousands of email letters like the one I have attached to this alert, urging them to sign on to the Goode bill to put troops on the border.

So far, our elected officials have continued to ignore the polls and editorials urging the Congress to put troops on the border. But they would be foolish to ignore thousands of emails landing on their desk daily demanding troops on the border NOW!

That can happen if you send an email today.

Our immigration problems, our drug problems and the threat of terrorists crossing our unguarded borders could all be solved overnight if our troops were allowed to assist the Border Patrol in securing our border from these threats.

The solution is at hand. All we have to do is convince the Congress to pass the Goode amendment without delay. And the best way I know to get bills through the committee process and on to the House and Senate floors for a vote is by getting as many cosponsors as possible.

You need to understand that there are thousands of bills all vying for the attention of the Congress. The ones that get to the top of the pile are the ones that have the most support. The most visible indication of support are the number of Congressmen and Senators who have actually added their names to a bill as cosponsors.

Until we have secured our borders against the flow of drugs, disease, illegal migration and terrorism, America will continue face an uncertain future and you and your loved ones will remain vulnerable to multiple threats.

So please send your email today. And if you want to do even more, consider joining Border Control. Just Click on Join Now! on the left side of your screen and help us to establish sensible and fair immigration policies while we regain control of our borders.

Thank You!
Edward I. Nelson Chairman
U.S. BORDER CONTROL America's last best chance to reform our border and immigration policies ... before it's too late.

Bump to Rep. Virgil Goode!!!

Even if this excellent bill managed to find its way out of Congress without being kicked into a dark corner it would vetoed by our One World President. And it would be his first veto.

FILE opposes the matricular card!

The matricula consular is an identification card issued by the Mexican government to its citizens illegally residing in the United States. We oppose acceptance of this card by U.S. institutions because it encourages illegal immigration. Furthermore, the United States has certain duties to its citizens like ensuring national security and defending against international and domestic fraud that require the responsibility for identification of persons in the United States to remain with U.S. authorities. These responsibilities must not be ceded to any foreign government.

FILE's efforts on the matricula consular are currently targeted toward banks that accept the card as sufficient ID to open a bank account, and toward municipalities that accept the card for the purpose of doling out city services including law enforcement services.

Several states will introduce the FILE Secure and Verifiable ID legislation during the 2003 legislative session. The bill, with the assistance of FILE and NumbersUSA, is introduced in the following states:

Why doesn't Delgado tell the truth, that illegal aliens cost American taxpayers billions of dollars every year? Damn, that makes me mad.
