Every big-name school cheats. SMU was the only one stupid enough to get caught. Dickerson made more at SMU than he ever did for the Rams.

"My reaction was disgust because of the ignorance of some SMU students,"
hey that's funny, that's my reaction, too! and for the same reason!
i know from personal experience that affirmative action is awful in practice. i was a freshman at penn state the first year after the state required mandatory minimum minority enrollment. there were people in my classes that were barely literate. it was the most boring, mind-numbing, waste of time and my parents' money. i sat in classes that resembled 4th grade. it was that bad. there were students there that had only gotten a 400 COMBINED score on the SAT. for those of you unfamiliar with that test, that is what they GIVE you for SIGNING YOUR NAME. on top of the fact that my education was dumbed down, the majority of these illiterates were receiving their "education" for free via state funded grants. therefore, my parents were paying for me and them so that i could learn at the 4th grade level all over again.
as a woman, i do not want any job or to be a student anywhere that has hired/selected me because i am a woman and so they "have" to choose me.
affirmative action is BAD for minorities. it is harmful to self-esteem, it creates warped realities, it hinders our educational system, our workforce, and our economy.
when we have entire segments of the population knowing that they can get by with only 50-70% of effort, that is all they will produce. furthermore, they will then BELIEVE that they are only capable of that 50-70%. which is a bad, bad thing.

This cookie bake is great example of Affirmative Action, and one all simple minded liberals should understand.
Im only surprised the minorities at SMU didnt buy the cookie bake out with those prorated prices.

I wonder if our ex-guv used that in SMU's defense?

>>>>A black student filed a complaint with SMU, saying the sale was offensive. SMU officials said they halted the event after 45 minutes because it created a potentially unsafe situation.
Are they admitting that these minority scholars can't take criticism like ladies and gentlemen. They throw around the racial buzz words themselves without a second thought. Or in the case of Matt Houston, not even an initial one.

"Leftism is a progressive illness."
yes, that can occasionally be brought into remission through a 12 step program.
Step 1: We admitted we were liberals and that our thoughts were illogical.
Step 2: Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity
etc................

By definition a flunkie takes his cue from his boss. A high percentage of people who work for educational institutions are flunkies. Even the loudest academic mouth will fall into that camp if he lacks tenure so one knows that what he is saying publicly is what administration and the tenured class are saying privately.

That was different. It's OK to do that stuff when you're a member of an elite, protected group, and those were feminazis. Let's just keep claiming repression people. Eventually, it'll sink in.

Those of us who believe in evolution and that humans originated in Africa can truthfully check off "African American." It might be true that my ancestors were waylaid in Europe for a few tens of thosands of years in Europe, but they originated from Africa all the same.

Oh jeez. The Ninth Circus has enough problems reading the law. Don't go throwing another another complication to the demwitted judiciary.
Assuming you're not black, I would bet on them saying that since the "international" continent of Africa doesn't
consider "white", native born people of European stock "African", you are SOL.
To: cake_crumb
yes, "thought detoxification centers" may be in order. where is Chairman Mao when you need him?

I am white and was born in America, from nth generation Americans. There are black people who were born in America from nth generation Americans. But if they are African-American because of where the ancestors many generations ago were born, then so am I. Indeed, some of their ancestors passed through Europe before going to America - just like my ancestors did.

I guess the leadership of the college is afraid of the superior intellect of the white students!

If there is one way to instill fire in the minds of college students, it is stuff like this. That's how riots on campuses get started because of Darwinian ideas like this.
There are just some people who will never evolve beyond the issue of race. They keep hanging onto this issue of the "white man this and the white man that" problem and that is what is crippling them in mind and soul.
Until these students come to grips with the lies and myths that they have been programmed by the flunky professors, who are solely responsible for kindling these kind the fires in young minds, we will continue to see and endure hatred in society and more fires and riots on campuses beyond belief.
If you want to put out the fires, start with the professors who plant the seeds in these young minds. Most of the students, when first starting out into college, don't have these ideas until they get into the classrooms.
What these professors plant into young minds is pure poison. It is why we live in a sick society. If we want to get well in society, get rid of the poison.
