Bush's Dangerous Nuclear Double Standard
With the White House pushing for new types of warheads, other nations may not heed the call for nonproliferation.
COMMENTARY
By Edward M. Kennedy and Dianne Feinstein, Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.) is a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) is a member of the Select Committee on Intelligence.
President Bush is expected to go to the United Nations today and, with Iran and North Korea obviously in mind, make a strong plea for nuclear nonproliferation.
But the president's words may ring hollow to much of the world because here at home we're embarking on a new and dangerous plan to develop and build a new generation of nuclear weapons.
The circumstances are hardly auspicious at a moment when our credibility in the world community is tenuous.
Preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons is one of the greatest challenges facing the U.S. and the world community today. The Bush administration says it strongly supports that goal.
Yet, in a bill awaiting final action in Congress, the administration is asking for $21 million in appropriations for two new types of nuclear weapons, the so-called mini-nukes and what it calls a "robust nuclear earth penetrator," the so-called bunker-buster

It would be nice just once to see a Democrat in the Senate put nation above party.

These two slugs hate America and they show it every day.
Why can't the Democrats offer candidates that love America?
Are there so many America-haters in the Democrat Party?
To: CROSSHIGHWAYMAN
I don't think it's exactly "hate America." It's more like they're living in a delusion of utopia. And let's not forget that nuke R&D and manufacturing will cost their precious social programs.

As with their passionately unconstitutional ambition to disarm American citizens, they naively believe that turning the cheek will charm one's enemies.

An undated handout photograph shows an Italian Maiolica plate, provided by the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford on Thursday. A leading museum has paid 240,000 pounds for a plate which shows a portrait of a man whose head is made up entirely of penises. It is thought to have been made by Italian Renaissance ceramicist Francesco Urbini in the 16th century. The head is framed by a garland carrying the inscription: Ogni homo me guarda come fosse una testa de cazi (Every man looks at me as if I were a dickhead). REUTERS/handout

The same party that FOR YEARS argued against large aircraft carriers, against improved fighter aircraft, ballistic missile upgrades, large ballistic missile subs, larger defense budgets and consistantly questioned the need for aggressive intelligence services.
Anything else?

Kennedy is drowning in his own dimentia longing for the days when he could swim to the top for a gulp of air. Feinstein, a California socialist, was a forecast of the golden state's bankruptcy.

Teddy driving DiFi off a bridge? Now that would make a great movie.
Teddy does look like a manatee with too much to drink.

It would be nice just once to see a Democrat in the Senate United States put nation above party.
They are all the same. Not one single democrat cares about the nation. They only care about their power. Just look at the mess the rats have caused in Texas. The biggest problem is, the media takes their side.

What these two, and they are not the only ones, forget is that they are senators. they were elect by the voters of a STATE. They were not elected by the entire country. If they are so sure that everything our ELECTED president does or says in wrong, then throw your hat in the ring. Otherwise be quiet.

The last I heard, the Senate is expected to pass the bill about the mini-nukes. So this seems just like personal grandstanding on the parts of Di and Teddy.

What a pair! One who has destroyed his brain cells with alcohol. The other who is destroying the ozone layer with hair spray. They should both take a swim in Teddy's car.
