Again, since you don't understand weather, you aren't really qualified to make such statements. A hurricane and tornado are not equivalent. Due to multiple factors, even an F1 tornado is much more serious than a hurricane if you just consider the winds.

not going to be even close to as bad as originally thought Don't know what the original thought was, but the water vapor image shows fairly dry air coming into the structure from landside. If the structure hangs off the coast a while, it won't be nearly as wet as if it moved directly onto land.

Good response!
Actually I was being mean. Was playing 'Name That Troll' and bet that I could get you to go off with just one letter. But you came back with a funny response.
Sorry for being a bit childish, I'll quit now.

Again, where is the gloom and doom on THIS THREAD that would account for YOUR attitude?????

Maybe they're all too busy taking your advice, it'd take a while to mix up a batch. :) Just in case they're not...
1/2 c. Tequila
1/2 c. Gin
1/2 c. Rum
1/2 c. Triple Sec
32 oz. Lemonade
32 oz. Coke
Mix well, pour over ice and drink some BEFORE RETURNING TO THE THREAD.

"hey serious question to anyone here: If my rental house is destroyed/unliveable, do I still have to pay the monthly mortgage."
While I'm not an attorney nor an insurance agent, I'm guessing that this might fall under a "Force Majeure" ("Act of God") clause.
Until property damage is assessed, you might still be obligated to continue making payments, especially if you own the property as well, rather than just the unit which sits upon (someone else's) rental property.
Here is another case where having access to a good attorney is an absolute necessity. An attorney can read the fine print on all contractual obligations prior to your signing and then quickly assess for you any potential problems down the line.
Another thought is for you to contact FEMA as soon as you possibly can, if only for reassurance and/or a future plan of action.

"NO LAUGHING PLEASE!!!"
This is no laughing matter. This is just one of many serious concerns which pending extreme weather conditions highlight.
The most important issue though right now is the safety of you and your family. Every material thing can be taken care of and/or replaced later. Stay safe, get to high ground and adequate shelter.
"(whole lotta hurrican'n going on round here!)"
God Bless and keep safe you and your loved ones.

Perhaps you were dishing a bit of the vitriol out, also? I've only read bits and pieces of this thread, but I know honeygrl. She's a sweetheart.
I can't imagine going through a hurricane of this size. Been through tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, fires, but never something so enormous as this thing called Isabel. Plus, it's been hanging out in the Atlantic for sooooooooo long. Bet everyone who is in or close to its path is a bit on the nervous side right now. I know I would be.

You're right Slip! I just logged in to check on what everybody's saying about Izzy. Couldn't believe all the flames erupting from a weather thread, of all things!
Any way I can introduce partial birth abortion, gun control or Bubba & Shrillery into a discussion of hurricanes? That oughta take this baby to a whole new level of fun.
But seriesly, this hurricane looks like a real mutha. Although I'm a Tarheel, I'm (hopefully) far enough away in the western Piedmont not to be personally effected. My brother has a vacation home on Bald Head Island, though, so I'm hoping it will be ok.
All you DownEasterners - stay safe, and keep us posted on developments when you can.
