good advice though.

I just looked at the science, but ignored the other elements and also that even just some high winds of cat 1 strength are not easy, they are awful to go through (see people try to stand in wind tunnel tests). Short-sighted, but oh well.

The discussion uses knots, while the advisory uses mph (1 knot = 1.15 mph). That explains the difference in forward motion numbers (they're actually the same speed, using different names).

If the satellite estimate is right, that would put it at a high Cat 1. The measured flight-level winds, however, would put it at a low-end Cat 2 (if I'm doing the conversion between flight-level and sea level right), and it's still got some warm water to go over.
