Hurricane Isabel is falling apart and fast. Re-Con planes have been flying in the storm since midnight and the entire west quad of the storm has disappeared. The eastern portion of the storm has a wind around 110KTS. There is discussion that re-strengthening will occour within 24 hours though so this still remains a threat.
Pressure has dramatically risen as well. Discussion currently is Isabel making landfall in either Northern South Carolina or Southern North Carolina and a due north move after landfall. Thinking is a landfalling Category 2 minimal 3 storm.

I'm thinking it's kind of "iffy," if you get my drift (which you just might if it comes in like it looks like it's going to......LOL)

Thanks. I jumped into the middle of this thread and didn't know where to look for it.
I shouldn't have looked. It's gorgeous, and that weasle owns it instead of me. That's not right.

Okay Freepers, I have a business trip tomorrow (Wednesday)and I am going from Baltimore-Washington (my home area) to Detroit. Then I am supposed to fly back at around 10pm on Thursday night into Baltimore. Is this going to happen or should I scrap this trip and do the conference call thing? Anybody want to take a guess?
To: NittanyLion
You call that winning??? It sure is nice outside right now. Enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm thinking it's kind of "iffy," if you get my drift (which you just might if it comes in like it looks like it's going to......LOL) If we get 156MPH winds as soon as it stops I'll have to head outside and make sure no witch's feet are sticking out from under the house.

LOL! I know!

Kitty Hawk will have "WIND GUTS" of 223mph on Thursday.
There is an upside though.... Maximum UV will only be '2'

If we get 139 just South of Baltimore I will eat my hat. I could see maybe 80-90 mph gusts or even 100mph. But I think alot of people will be screwed if we get winds that high this far inland.

You bet! I've been praying ever since I heard it would hit our area on Friday. I've been planning a huge reception here at school for area faculty and afraid the storm would put a crimp in it, among other things. We don't expect to get hit with an actual hurricane but the residual rainfall from it, which could cause flooding, etc. So, praying that it wouldn't hit the coast has been a priority. I hate to see the storms coming and doing so much damage to places on the coastlines. Terrible stuff.

I feel left out - they're predicting 31 mph winds for Friday in Chattanooga. I guess I should feel fortunate.

You are so right.
I pray this storm will go out to see.
My granddaughter lives close to the coast and we are in the storm path. A storm like this affects all of us. Lives are the most important thing, and then the aftermath of dealing with insurance for loss. Our NC coast has had its share of disasters. We will never forget the flood 3 years ago. People are still recovering from the damage. Lives have been changed forever. Pray!!!
