Excellent news report about Free Republic! Jim and Amy, your "sound bites" were very good, and the knuckleheaded "Human Relations Council" have egg on their faces from their press release about FR. Expect to see some high-speed backpedaling from them, and hope to see the lefties in charge of that "council" looking for other employment.

P.S. It may be a good idea to copy the original "FReepwatch" (or whatever it was called) page and comments that encouraged its readers to cause trouble at your picnic, as well as the FR threads that followed. A lawyer may be a good idea, and a letter demanding a public retraction and apology... in print and on the tv station that originally reported the story.

The mayor appoints a certain number, and each city counsel member appoints a certain number.

If enough pressure is put on the various counsel members, they could, in theory, withdraw the appointments to the commission, or as has already been looked at, defunding the commission....

Hey! Opportunity knocks!

The ADL is on its last round of appeals trying to worm its way out of paying a jury-award of $10.4 million to a Colorado couple that this strong-arm media-backed militant organization slandered as "hate-mongers" and "anti-Semitic".

Even on appeal, the appeals court only lowered the jury award amount by a pittance, by a few thousand dollars or so, sending a clear signal that those who use pejoratives like "hate" are on notice that the public is fed up.

If Free Republic doesn’t sue, you send a clear signal that this bureaucratic agency in Fresno may slander you and every member of this forum with impunity.

Let's put the ACLU on the spot!! Let them take the case on behalf of Free Republic!!

If the issue is allowed to be about the Forum, it may be problematic. Better to move the focus to the chapter itself, which is in a better position to defend itself. The FR Network may be able to help, since Fresno is an affiliate.

LOL. I've check out that left wing site. They hate everything moral or patriotic. They call everything "hate" is it doesn't give them some type of self-gradification. Every other word starts with "F".
