138, but I had 140 in my grasp(max score is 144), blowing the final question, where by the time I figured the correct one, I stupidly answered 'which of these belongs' instead of the actual 'which of these does not belong', despite my gut saying always reread the question after deciding before committing the answer. DANG! "The kick was just wide right..."
Then again, shouldn't this test be subject to a time limit? And how accurate is a supposed IQ test that utilizes famous quotes, not all of which have a single logical answer based on the missing word and choices given?
If you have not taken the test, GO TAKE THE TEST, OR GO AWAY, DO NOT READ FURTHER, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200, GO SPAM AN ARNOLD/TOM THREAD OR THE SMOKEY BACKROOM, ETC.
OK, so I started to see if there were answers posted on the internet, and googled a question I thought I had missed. Bingo, found the whole test and the answers explained
http://216.239.41.104/search?q=cache:0-AmnLxa8qMJ:www.able2know.com/aa_internet.php%3Fstart%3D15++%22Which+one+of+these+five+things+is+least+like+the+other+four%3F%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 The answers here are all correct. However the post's author is wrong about #27 having multiple answers, since it is really asking, "which one of these does not grow on a tree"(one grows on a vine.) I went for "which one of these is not spheroid shaped". And of course I had to foolishly go and rush through #20, when my gut was saying test the numbers on paper just to double check. I should ALWAYS listen to my gut.
OK, so I am a 138 Visionary Philosopher(but my gut is a 142.) Or I am just a goof wasting time on an internet test.
Thanks for the answer key. It loses some credibility by maxing out at 144, but I guess it's just another sales tool. Amusing, nonetheless.
I also struggled with multiple answers on the fruit question. My first instinct was that coconuts were different, since they weren't a soft, fleshy fruit with seeds inside. I went with the vine/tree distinction ultimately.
So much for my productive Saturday, though . . . guilt setting in . . .
From your google search -
20. In a race from point X to point Y and back, Jack averages 30 miles per hour to point Y and 10 miles per hour back to point X. Sandy averages 20 miles per hour in both directions. Between Jack and Sandy, who finished first?
Answer: sandy
Explanation: jack only catches up at the end
Huh? If Jack catches up at the end then don't they tie? They both average 20 mph and go the same distance.
27. Which one of these five things is least like the other four?
answer: grape
explanation: this was a horrible question with multiple answers that made sense.
I chose coconut because I thought (?) a coconut was a seed whereas the others have seeds inside. I don't understand why it's grape. Anyone have a better explaination?
Ok, a vine.
If the maximum score is 144, it's not a standard IQ test. The Stanford-Binet IQ test can theoretically go up above 200.
