On the bright side...if Charleston takes a direct hit, there is a strong possibility that this hurricane will FINALLY blow away the OLD Cooper River bridge...the scourge of "white-knuckle ride" fans everywhere!

Don't even remind me of that thing. Nothing like driving over the Grace Bridge on a windy day when I'm scared of heights...I don't care what kind of traffic contortions I have to do, when I'm in Charleston and have to cross over to Mount Pleasant, I get on the "new old" bridge instead of the "old old" bridge!

...FINALLY blow away the OLD Cooper River bridge... It will be gone soon anyway, the new bridge is being built over it as we speak.

Ye gods, of course. That would be a plus.
Have a Citadel grad son and still recall the first time over that bridge.
Trouble is also have beloved friends in the area and am thinking of the damage to the Waterfront in the last go-round..
