Hillary Clinton: More funding needed for New York police, firefighters

US Senator Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) called for more federal funding to bolster New York police, fire and emergency workers still reeling from the devastating September 11 terror attacks of two years ago.
"I don't think that anywhere in the country, but particularly here in New York, we've provided enough federal resources for our firefighters, our police officers, our EMTs (emergency medial technicians)," Clinton told CNN television.
"We have so many unmet needs when it comes to being prepared and ready in case something terrible happens again," she added.
Clinton was in New York Thursday meeting with relatives of people who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center and revisiting the site where the Twin Towers collapsed two years ago today, killing more than 3,000 people.
An immediate outpouring of public and government support for "first responders" has subsided, the former first lady said, and now renewed efforts need to be made to make sure they have the funds and personnel they need to do their jobs.
"We're closing fire stations in New York City, a place where the firefighters lost so many hundreds of their fellow firefighters. It's not right," the New York senator said.
"There's no way to plug every hole and prevent every suicidal lunatic from coming into your borders. But let's do everything we possibly can," she added. "And I'm not yet convinced we have."

This is the same woman who could not be bother to go to a single fireman or cop's funeral after 911. Not one.

As a person soon to wear a badge myself, I agree more funding needs to go to most PD and FD's.
However, I don't think people in Montana should be paying for the NYPD-as the NYPD does not patrol downtown Helena. Nor is the NYPD the bulwark of our nation's defense more than any other PD. The various NY PD's (city PD, port PD, transit PD, park PD...)are the size of a small nation's army, and in some cases are better armed than the same. Most money sent to these huge departments get swallowed in salaries and their massive buerucratic (sp) staffs. Little ever makes it to upgrade response systems and training.
Bottom line: NYC pays for NYC police and fire. If they can't afford it, shrink that army.

And while I'm on a roll...the more money a local PD takes from the govt...the more "indebted" they become to the fed. Hence that local PD is now more interested in pleasing the fed than they are their local citizens.
I know PD's have to play the game with the fed to get ahead these days, but beware-the hand that feeds you expects obedience in the long run.

And what do the cities of Newark, Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, Washington, Richmond, need Hillary?
I'm sure Hillary prays daily for any new terrorism hits to show up in her district. It's good for her business.

But money that goes through Washington is better than money collected locally. The water of the Potomac baptizes the money making it holy. That's one of only two explanations I have for why so many states and cities want to get money from Washington after the bureaucrats have skimmed some off for themselves and added a bunch of regulations on how the money will be spent.
Of course, the other explanation is that local officials are too cowardly to account for the real cost of local government services to their voters, and want the IRS to do their taxing dirty work for them.

Does anyone have a link to, or an audio file of the booing? It's a classic that is always edited out of replays.

Was this before or after she was complaining about air quality around the towers after they fell? This was blamed on the Bush administration of course. Too bad she did not go there and suck up all that pollution with her big mouth.

Nothing Hitlery is going to say except, I am getting out of politics and I am leaving the country for the good of the people and America is going to make me change my mind about her.
Oh yeah, take that fool of husband of your's.
To: Piquaboy
Her complaining about the "Bush cover-up on air quality" yesterday really got to me. Who is she kidding? Did you see the President, only days after the attack, WITHOUT a mask for HOURS with the men at ground zero? Did she think that anyone would turn tail and run, and not search for survivors or prevent the fires from spreading??? She is a coward, and in no way Presidential material. She never offered a solution as to how first responders should have responed... she never gave a damn about them or their families. We never saw her offering solace. I hope New York remembers that, and gives her the boot she deserves. It makes me sick that she would think to AVOID the air and not do your job. These men are our brothers, and we all would have reacted the same. Running in to help, not run away.

With respect for all the FD and PD and EMT..but they are NOT first responders.....the Marines and the airborne are....we cannot make this country 100% safe...the cost in $ and to our civil liberties is too high to pay..we kill 'em all in Iraq...

Verizon to FCC:....Broadband Policy Is Highest Priority
January 28, 2003
By Roy Mark
WASHINGTON -- What appears to be a carefully choreographed rollout of trial balloons in advance of a much anticipated ruling by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) gained momentum over the weekend when FCC Chairman Michael Powell leaked a draft version of a plan that would have major implications for the future of broadband deployment in the U.S..............

But your freackin husband refused to take out their frickin leader, you sorry POS! Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Clinton, really should take credit for the TT's demise along with the first World Trade Center bombing and the USS Cole and African embassy; he/she really responded to those acts of terrorism with the usual left's protection of Americans - some what analogous to nonexistent. Mrs. Clinton, you are a day late and many $$s short!
