Thank you very much, my friend.
LOL on the "listening tour" point. Lady MacBeth (excuse me, Hillary!) has trashed that phrase, so I'm not about to use it. Besides, that's an inaccurate description of what I'm doing.
Small group by small group, I am meeting with 40 or so people in towns and cities across the District. In each case, I make sure I talk personally with every person in the room, and encourage each person to ask questions they consider critical, and answer those questions straight up and on the spot.
In short, I'm trying to talk PERSONALLY with 10,000 citizens in the District, so each one of them can gauge for himself/herself the cut of my jib. Then I will keep in touch with those people after meeting them. The winning total in the Republican primary will be 50,000 votes. I make no secret of my goal. It is to get 10,000 people who've met me personally to tell at least 5 people each that they know, "Here's an able, common sense guy you ought to support for Congress."
Yes, there will by advertising, and radio and TV interviews, and speeches in larger venues. But underneath it all will be this one-on-one effort. Do not compare my efforts with those of Hillary! She has never appeared before any audience that she did not control. She has never asked any question that wasn't pre-shaped. I, on the other hand, will go to any group, and answer any question. Big difference.

Thanks for your comment, Grampa,
Are you, by any chance, also a "rich VRWC capitalist"? Please, if you would, do two things for me. 1) Run through your Rolodex and recommend my efforts to those who happen to live in Western Carolina. 2) Send a donation of "dinner and a movie for two" (about $35) to the campaign. (More is welcome; less is also welcome. It all adds up.)
Cordially,
John

We Are Running for Congress Hey, since both Billybob and J.A. are running, I've got a great campaign slogan - two for the price of one!
Oops, I forgot who used that one already. Nevermind...

Interesting question, since I only went public a week ago. Fund-raising, gathering volunteers and lining up speaking engagements are all a tad more difficult than I'd anticipated. But all goals can be met, I believe.
From time to time, I'll put up progress reports on FR. It's too early for that, yet.

Congressman:
Well it is time for another bump from here in Southern California. I surly wish I lived in Western Carolina, (just long enough to vote for you)then I could put up signs, ring doorbells and stand on soap boxes and announce to all that would listen that you are the MAN. However living her in So. Calif. all I can do is to send you a few dollars once in a while. Good luck, and I for one will keep this thread up a couple times each day.
The very best to you and yours.

Wow! Thank you very much, my friend. My gast is flabbered.
Because of the extraordinary research and communications skills of FReepers, many times over the years I've said to my wife, "I'm glad to have FReepers as friends, because I would tremble to have them as enemies." You looked up, and laid out in simple terms, a lot of my more obscure background.
However, it's 17 briefs in the Supreme Court now, not 14. (But who's counting? LOL.)

Seamole:
My friend you have at your disposal much more information than I do about our mutual friend Congressman Billy Bob. However, I don't think that you have any more respect of him than I do. I think he would be a great addition to our Congress, and I know for sure that he would add to our side of the isle. The only thing I can do here from California is to keep his name and aspirations before this forum and send him a few dollars once in a while. Keep up the good work and together maybe we two can bring some "sheep" into the fold.
The very best to you and yours.

Texican (that is me)
Another bump for this thread, as I think that the "Congressman" would make a wonderful addition to our WEAK Congress. We need men (or women) of strong character and intellect to represent us in the Congress, and I think that John has those qualities.
The very best to you and yours.
