He knew it would go off any minute because there was a timer set to 40 minutes under his shirt.

Thanks, I had missed that.

In that case, he should have driven straight to a police station instead of the bank to save as much time as possible, assuming he was innocent in this. There isn't much likelihood that the mastermind behind this intended to defuse the bomb when the victim returned with the loot. Why would he?

I have a friend who writes music articles for upcoming shows. The editor has messed up things like altering who supposedly owns a record label (one time claiming that the artist owned the label). Things like that tend to go into an artist's press kit (at least when they are starting out) and such errors can only compound.

Just about anytime I know even a few details about an event (first hand or familiarity with the subject beforehand), I can spot all kinds of errors. Some things could be taken as difference of perspective but most are just plain WRONG.

I trust the media as much as a I need to for information but I try to get several different sources (not just look at articles that cite several sources).

I still haven't seen the transcript from today's press conference on this story. Why not put it online ("Full details here"). The media is a stopgap that prevents us from getting the full story.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. It is risky to rob a bank and not get shot. It's a gamble that when you have a bomb on your neck you won't get killed before you get the bomb off.

Since getting the bomb off is the primary objective, work on that rather than all the driving around and "trust" that the crook will remove it for you (and then permit you to live).

Say he had lived. Without the bomb (just pictures) would the police have believed his story? "C'mon, we know you stashed the money someplace..."

Some pizza parlors in Pennsylvania are notorious for their connection to the mob and the drug trade. I would look for a drug connection first.

The device is way too elaborate for this poor man, Wells, to have designed and executed. And way too complicated for a suicide.

Or, it could be the work of another "Mad Bomber" like George Metesky, the infamous NYC bomber who made and set off his devices as revenge for his firing by Con Ed in the fifties.

Someone who ordered pepperoni and got mushrooms instead?

America does tend to write the book on psy-ops and covert dirty tricks ya know. Maybe someone is uctually using our playbook which may have escaped from pandora's box?

Saddam Hussein's secret police had more dirty tricks up their sleeves for screwing with people than the CIA ever dreamed up; same goes for even the Bulgarian secret police back in the Cold War, noted for assassinating defectors with ricin-tipped umbrellas. The CIA is not responsible for all the dirty covert tricks going on in the world or even most of them.

It doesn't take some vast state-sponsored organization to do stuff like this.

Any sufficiently immoral person can concoct this stuff up if motivated enough- not everything that happens has state-sponsorship, not everything that goes on has an American scheme behind it, and in spite of all the tinfoil theorists out there, the CIA is not some pervasive, all-powerful entity that has its fingers everywhere, looking to bell pizza deliverymen with bombs to obtain operating funds.

:o)

Yes, and ironically enough, Arnold stared in it.

Was he looking at the female costar?

LOL! Shatner was such a freakin' overacting ham.

Come to think of it, he's the only actor to ever get away with being an overacting ham! That's why he's so great! LOL!

Are you using a POPUP blocker or a script blocker? The link launches another window for the video to play in.

Thank you, you're the best!

Thanks to you I finally got to see it (Fox didn't show the link, just some Java script when I looked at 'properties'.

Anyway, now that I have seen the tape, why is it supposed to be graphic. What's graphic about it? All it is is a quick nano-second glance at a distant prone person.

Looks like it was designed to only take out the person wearing it.

It looks that way to me too. I guess you don't want to hand your victim a way to take you down with him. A more Hollywood explanation would be that the perp works in the bank and didn't want to endanger his co-workers.

I agree that going IMMEDIATELY to the nearest police station was his best bet...unless the other dude was right behind him. He might even be in background shots (if he exists). Regardless, Mr. Wells didn't seem REAL upset about the bomb going off. In fact, he was rather calm, almost taunting the cops to come and save him.

I think he had a message for the world and the entire scenario was part of his plan. Let's consider the fact that his written text is 9 pages long. Gimme a break...9 pages?? What ever happened to "This is a stick up. Put the money in the bag".

And he's how close to where the power blackout started??
