Why Tom McClintock Should Be California's New Governor

A Candidate Who Can Bring Calm To The Current Chaos In The Capitol

By Danney Ball

I don't know about you but I like it when there is a good captain in charge of any ship that I'm a passenger on. It seems lately in California the recall election is being referred to either as a circus or a mistake. I think most citizens in the Golden State now realize that it clearly is not a mistake ... and most of the people I talk to don't like the idea of it being referred to as a circus either.

Seems what we need now in California is a good leader to help guide the ship of state into a safe harbor. That is why I am going to vote for state senator Tom McClintock in the recall election on October 7th.

Here are my reasons why:

1. Tom has the experience and the guts to reject the fuzzy math continually being served up by the state legislature. He has shown that he will stand up to special interests and reject tax and spend ideas in a heartbeat. He has the steady hand that our state needs right now to guide us through the storm and get us safely out of the money mess Gray Davis has gotten us into.

2. Tom is a family man of principle. He has no outside interests and can spend all of his time just doing the job in the rough days ahead. What we need now is someone who knows how the state got to this point fiscally, and how to get us back on course without huge tax increases or radical cuts in education and other vital services.

3. Tom will not be spending millions of dollars on this campaign that have been collected from special interest groups and gambling interests. Many on his team are unpaid volunteers involved in the campaign because they believe as I do ... here is a good, honest, and knowledgeable man who will be able to handle the job. He would have made a great state controller. He will make an even better Governor.

4. Tom McClintock is a man that democrats and independent voters can get behind. He is not going to sit in the governors chair and try to tout social issues or impose conservative ideas on the citizens of California. My take is that he is interested in the main problems staring us in the face here and that problem is one of dollars. Expenditures and the state budget has to be the main focus of the next governor of California.

5. Tom loves what he is doing in public service. I get a sense that he is in state politics partially because he views it as much more than a job. He sees his career in government more as a calling. Long after others have become bored with the tedious day to day problem solving Tom McClintock will be burning the midnight oil. He is dedicated to the role he plays in helping to find answers to the hard problems that crop up on a continuing basis.

I haven't known Mr McClintock very long. Most of what I have learned about him I have learned by watching how he campaigns and how he treats people. Like you, I want the best leader we can find to take control after the votes have been cast in this recall. As far as I am concerned, we will be darn lucky if Tom McClintock prevails. It would be a pretty safe bet that our state will then be in good hands.

Danney Ball ran for governor of California and lost in the 2002 primary to Bill Simon. He chose not to run in the recall but focus on retiring Barbara Boxer in 2004. *This article may be reprinted or forwarded without further permission.

I have not heard him calling on some sort of "working with fellow republicans" in order to fix California's financial hick-up. So far it is "I" will do this, "I" will sign this, no sign of some sort of cooperation among all parties involved.

It's like "the knight in the shiny armor" saga...I TMcC the California saviour,...beware of my wrath, you all, if I will became Governor I will fix all California's ill's with a stroke of the pen, just like that.Further more I will issue executive orders to do what ever the hard liners are telling me to do.

If every one is so bent out of shape about the Bill giving the illegal Mexicans Driver's Licence, why is Mr McC not filibustering this bill into oblivion if it is such a bad bill? Why is he not blocking all those obnoxious Dem sponsored bills and put them in the lime light? If they can filibuster on the federal level, you can damn right filibuster on the state level.

Me thinks Mr. McC is riding a white painted horse...

You claim to be from California? I think by the 8th grade, I knew that there was no filibuster in the CA legislature. Debate ends when the Speaker/president of the senate-pro tem says it ends.

Being a non-Californian I know squat about McClintock

That's right.

The Arndroids better figure out how to get Arnold's memory back in a hurry, or he is toast. Nobody forgets spending four days with a reporter talking about his sexual expliots, unless he was smoking bigger joints than those cigars he is so fond of. Memory loss and/or dishonesty, is not something we need in Sacramento in this time of crisis.

Blahh Blahh. All we are saying is give peace a chance. Sounds like a lot of Whiner's too me. Both sides have a point. And in the end it will end up with Grey out lite.
I feel that Arnold will win with or without McClintock.

There's a reason why Art Torres says that McClintock should be whom Republicans should support.

That evil smile on Torres' face while he is saying that is truly scarey!!!

Undoubtedly. McClintock should be governor.

Jim Robinson should be President. Jeff Head should be the Secretary of Defense.

The question is, is there a Republican who can beat Bustamente, and what is his name?

I think it starts with an "S".

Shouldn't he first learn how to fill out a couple of forms correctly? After all, he is the career politician.

McClintock shut out of voter's guide: Republican candidate loses last-minute Supreme Court appeal

California Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom McClintock, who trails only Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante in opinion polls, is barred from publishing a position statement in the voter's guide for the Oct. 7 recall election because he did not fill out the required form according to guidelines.

10 reasons not to vote for Arnold.

He is an opportunist.

He entered the race late.

He gets flustered easily on simple questions that he should have been prepared for.

He does not want to debate.

He does not want to sign a no-tax pledge.

He has out-of-state liberal advisors.

He is not a California native.

There is a better qualified alternative (McClintock).

RINOs tend to do the opposite of what they pledge to do in their election campaign.

If the Demos have a dirt bomb on him, they can drop it any time to defuse him, or use it as blackmail.

Here's a bonus reason:

I really don't need anyone to tell me how to vote anyway. I'll vote for the best candidate and if other's don't, that's their problem, not mine.
