Come one, come all -- comment on this year's freak show. It began with three sluts on stage in their underwear.

You folks are acting like these are real people. They're not; they're fake. Why even bother. It's too friggin easy to dismiss this whole event as a love fest for non-people who,...whatever. Forget I said anything.

We're well aware they're not real people. That's what makes it fun!

I live so middle-of-nowhere I "qualify" for the east coast/west coast network channels (luckily Los Angeles and New York in my case) on Dishnet. At this point I don't know if I still qualify or if they're grandfathered. I don't know what you had to go through, but these days in order to qualify, federal law says you have to get written authorization from each of your closest network affiliates saying that they agree you live too far out of the way to get their signal clearly ... or else "prove" that you own an RV.
I've given a lot of thought to just signing up but using one of my relatives in New York for the billing address, so I can get the New York local channels. I hate the local channels here and couldn't care less if I never saw another West Virginia newscast. If I weren't so attached to my cable modem and the great deal I get by taking the modem and the full cable TV deal at the same time, I'd call DirecTV tomorrow. But I can't justify the cost just for the NYC local stations.
I really wish someone would start offering pirate streams of the NYC stations online ... at least the newscasts. Obviously it doesn't really matter if I watch "Frasier" via Channel 4 in New York or Channel 4 in South Succotash, but I want my New York news!

I'm reading this thread wildly out of order at this point. Did Johnny Cash win ANYTHING?
To: lainie
Nope.
The red carpet coverage didn't begin until 6:30pm pt in L.A. with the actual awards show starting at 8:00pm pt.
To: Timesink
I don't think so.

Seeing all these pictures from outside the VMAs reminds me of when I used to work at the AP, which is directly connected to the other side of Radio City Music Hall (so much so that we used to sit in the fire exit stairwells at night, smoke cigarettes and listen to the concerts on the other side of the wall). The day of the VMAs were always the single worst day of the year to work, because they close off almost everything for a two-block radius to kiss the asses of these elitist scumbags, and try to force us working people to play the "Your papers, please!" game in order to even get into the area. Every time a cop pulled that on me, I just looked right at his nameplate and said, "You want me to present ID to *prove* I work for the AP and have a 'right' to enter a public building, officer X? Wow, this'll make a great story, you guys refusing to let regular joes get to work so that rock stars can play!" Then I'd start reaching for my wallet *and* a notebook at the same time, and the cop would just wave me through without fail before I got a chance to open either one. That happened several years in a row.
I never bothered to tell the cops that I worked in the financial data department.

Cash wins for Best Cinematography in a Video (last category listed)...........Thanks. At least he got something. But it just shows how far MTV, and the video genre in general, has fallen, that he didn't sweep every category.

Poor Ben Stiller. With every passing day he looks a tiny bit more like his dad.
To: cyborg
No they all want to look like J.Lo...Apparently so does Michael Jackson.
To: Timesink
he can't be bothered... he's busy organ grinding for spare change opening up his ranch... oh how the mighty fall... the saying 'God don't like ugly' comes to mind
