WASHINGTON (CNN) --With one recent poll showing actor Arnold Schwarzenegger falling behind Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante in California's gubernatorial recall race, some top Republicans are urging other GOP candidates to drop out of the race.
Businessman Bill Simon, the GOP nominee against Gov. Gray Davis last year, dropped out over the weekend. But Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock says he's in the race for good. McClintock, in Sacramento, California, spoke with CNN's Judy Woodruff on Tuesday. The following is an edited transcript.

What's painful is to watch the McClintock camp act as if they're working for Cruz Bustamante. I don't see that happening here.

That's the point, as I just said in my previous post, if Republicans lose the Governorship because of a split vote, he has not future in politics. Nobody will forgive him. What really his motive here?

"California now has 47% registered Democrats as opposed to 37% registered Republicans." First of all, you are absolutely wrong! As of February 10, 2003, 44.4% of Californians are registered Democrats, 35.2% are registered Republicans. I suggest in the future before you start ponitificating that you get your facts right! Vote for a real Republican and not some liberal RINO! MCCLINTOCK FOR GOVERNOR or pay the con$equence$!

Why are the out-of-state people sometimes the most obnoxious ones? It's that way no matter where you go, it seems.

Cathryn, what do you see happening here then? Put your ideals aside...I really want to know what you and the others REALLY see happening here.

You seem more than capable of defending yourself without going for the nuke option. You know what my policy is, and has been on this forum for five years or so? Never, ever, hit the abuse button over a post that is a personal attack on myself, no matter how vicious, unfair, nasty, or filled with swear words. Never, ever. I consider all such posts self impeaching, and have no desire to see them deleted. I also never respond to them, well, almost never, or "hardly ever," as the Modern Major General would say in Gilbert and Sullivan.

They seem to have no idea what's going on here in California. If any one of them could come here to live for just two years, I'm sure we would be hearing a different tune from our fellow out of state conservatives.
Try to come here and buy property. Then try to improve it. Try to keep a job here. Try to take care of your family in this state. It's really tough, and it's getting tougher every day.
McClintock is tough enough to turn the state around, and if he doesn't win, his brave and clear campaign will inspire the winner one way or another.

"my friends"
The topic of this thread is McClintock and, at least in my opinion, how he is a sure loser. I'm not going to focus on your friends, but please explain how this other loser, McClintock is an asset to the people of California.

You think McClintock losing will sway Bustamante? As we'll be saying in a few years: El Amigo es loco!

I will not hit the abuse button. I will simply put the Admin Moderator in my To: field.
This goes back to another thread from awhile ago.
I've never alerted a moderator before, but if personal information is revealed, I will ask to have it removed.

So the supposedly ethical McClintock appears to actually be deceitful.

"if [McClintock] doesn't win, his brave and clear campaign will inspire the winner one way or another."
Yeah, sure. Governor Cruz Bustamante will be very inspired.

Okay. Now this is a real discussion. :-)
First of all, I need to know why you think McClintock is a loser. Then I can work with the question.
And not a bunch of emotional stuff, either. Clear, solid reasons.

I really wish you'd people would just let democracy work. This isn't a normal election. Just 25-30% of the vote can win... Right, and with more Dems that Pubs, the labor unions and Mexican political organizations working to get the vote out for Cruz, and them all united behind one candidate, while the Pubs are split, who has the best chance of getting the most votes?
Hint; his first name isn't Tom.
