Why, I am the proud owner of my grandmothers cast iron griddle and her biscuit tray her daddy carved for her when she was getting married (1902).

Those cast iron skillets can be passed down for generations and the 'seasoning' on them just gets better, so black it shines.

A friend brought a family skillet to his marriage. His new wife, not familiar with the proper care of same, put it in the dishwasher. I think he cried.

I am the proud owner of my mawmaw's hoosier that I watched her make biscuits on. She always made tomato gravy with her biscuits. Might be an eastern Kentucky thang.
