[history]
August 23, 2003 -- THE terrorist is the pundit's friend. Plant one seed of terror and a thousand opinions bloom in the media's heavily manured fields.
In the wake of last week's bombing of the U.N. headquarters in Baghdad, we heard, yet again, that the sky was falling, that our involvement in Iraq is damned and doomed. One online "intelligence" service even predicted a vast Arab uprising, from Morocco to the Iranian border, that would bury our soldiers beneath the desert sands.

I was watching a movie recently about WW11. In some of the scenes there was a radio playing, with the voice of Tokyo Rose in the backround, giving the names of dead GIs and generally trying to lower the morale of the US troops. The first thought that came to me was that today's media, including the "American" media, has taken over her dirty job.

The U.S. military did offer protection - repeatedly. But U.N. bureaucrats turned it down. They didn't want to be associated with those wicked, imperialist, ill-mannered Americans. After all, everybody loves the United Nations, don't they? the UN has again proven to be a worthless tool of killing machine bandits

BTTT for a must read.

Thanks for posting this, kattracks! My anti-Dubya sister accuses me of reading only what supports my views. Actually, it's impossible NOT to read negative news, and these few bits of positive news are a welcome respite.

If the United Nations won't say it, I will: "Thanks, GI." Me too.

(I'm waiting for Noam Chomsky, Radio Pacifica and Al-Jazeera to blame the U.N. bombing on the Israelis. Or on us.)
I seem to recall reading an article the other day saying that Israel was really behind the bombing.

kattracks, thanks for the great article. I saw Koffi baby try and accuse us for not giving protection to the un. I was so happy to hear our Defense Department call him on that accusation and tell the American public protection had been offered but turned down by the ungrateful koffi.
Our presstitutes make Tokyo Rose look like a begining piker. They relish reporting ONE MORE MILITARY PERSON KILLED IN IRAQ AND 6 MORE WOUNDED.
I believe the presstitutes cause America more heartburn than the terrorists can even think up.

Real Story Bump! This is a must read essay!
Cannot fathom why it has not generated more comments since you first posted it.
The real story continues to be vastly different FRom the one that is reported upon in the mass media.
The problem is, the real story is not disseminated widely enough to be an effective counter to the lies the LIEberal/Socialist/Marxist Bastards are able to get out though their lamestream media lackeys.
What to do?
