Our local financial reporter just attributed today's stock market gains to a rumor sweeping Wall Street that Osama Bin Laden has just been captured.
ONLY A RUMOR! (But you heard it here first.)

I'm hardly doing a thing today, so watching a thread fill up based solely on rumors seems like a tremendous option for me.
I already took a shower, but maybe for the fun of it I'll take another.

From
Yahoo! Finance:
"11:30AM: Although intelligence of yesterday's bombings incited only a muted reaction from the market, the rumor of Bin Laden's capture has lifted all of the major averages within reach of their respective session highs and the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 to their best levels of the morning... As a result, the oil services, banking, transportation, utility, retail, biotech, disk drive, networking, and computer hardware sectors, some of which had previously been in negative territory, are finding themselves above the watermark... The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq are currently right below the unchanged line... NYSE Adv/Dec 1375/1594, Nasdaq Adv/Dec 1240/1597"
The capture may not be real (probably is not). But the post is a real one. The market is reacting to the rumor.

How do you capture rotting flesh and cruched bones? That part's easy. It's moving the billion tons of Tora Bora mountainside off of it that's hard.

I will be quite happy, to say the least, if it is true.
Especially because Ms. Clinton and Senator Graham will have a large pile of crow to eat.

I wish bin Laden had been captured. But the fact that Wall Street would know about it before Free Republic seems unlikely.

"U.S. official who asked not to be identified told Reuters it was "absolutely not true" that bin Laden had been captured." At first I did not believe the rumor, but now I'm starting to wonder.

It's moving the billion tons of Tora Bora mountainside off of it that's hard. I still don't understand why so many people believe that OBL waited around at Tora Bora for our forces to come bomb him. He's a cowardly terrorist. It just makes no sense to me.

Do I need to get some Dr. Pepper and pop some Popcorn and jump in the shower? I'd jump in the shower first; you don't want to get your popcorn wet.

Don't be hasty. Now if Dick Morris tells us the rumor isn't true, then we'll know for a fact that they've caught Bin Laden. :-)

The market is heading down again. Someone must be floating a rumor that he escaped.
To: Coop
The caves had been invulnerable to Soviet bombs, so OBL may not have known about the US bunker busters.
