My wife was on a medically supervised fast. She had 5 packets of drink mix daily. Each had 14 grams of protein and about 5 grams of carbs. Potassium supplements were also included. We went through over 6 months of dragon breath as she pared down from 182 to 127. I took advantage of her "food vacation" and put myself on Barry Sears' Zone diet. My weight loss was slower as a consequence of cancer in 1985. I have to exercise extremely vigorously every day to see any results from even a very carefully controlled diet. Still, I dropped from 204 to 173 between June 1996 and April 1997.

Ketosis breath, I think it's called. At least that's what I called it.Correct. It's the ketones burning out of the fat and liver. Ketones have a "special" smell that is repellant to humans. You don't smell it much, these days in the States.
