From the article.
For two years, the Bush administration and leaders of congressional energy committee have called for new legislation to help expand the transmission system, but a major energy bill has yet to get through Congress.

The "greens" have a lot to answer for. You can lay a lot of the blame for this at their feet.

Knowing the way Congress operates, the bill probably included $10 million to study moose farts, $21 million for the construction of an ice cream museum, and a whopping $100 million for another highway and bridge to nowhere in West Virgina.

I predict there will be another act of terrorism.
I predict GW will win another term.
I predict it will get to 100' in NYC this year.
If Im wrong will anyone remember my predictions??
Predictions are like a__holes --everyone's got one.

And you can be sure that the evil Enron advised VP Cheney in those secret meetings and planned to actually PROFIT (!!!) from any adding of transmission lines to the NE grid(s). How dare they?!
To: Labyrinthos
Could be, but this news
should counter the attacks on President Bush, which will appear as sure as the sun rises in the east.
Of course, most of the lamestrem media will see fit to omit this from any of their "balanced" reports.

This is an opportunity for President Bush to take a page out of the RAT handbook and use this electrical grid failure like a big wooden club and relentlessly beat the democrats over the head with it

Was Ohio the only red state that suffered power outages? Seems to me mostly "blue" states largely populated and governed by Democrats were affected. When was the last time there was a power outage in Texas? Bush can lay this one right at the feet of the NIMBY and environut crowds.

but, West Virginia needs all those bridges (named after their benefactor, Sen. "sheets" BYRD)! And don't forget the community centers. i moved here from NC, and remember seeing Congressman Charlie Rose's name everywhere...your tax dollars at work...instant monuments!
We have nowhere to go, but we can get there! We have nothing to do, but we have somewhere to do it (even a million dollar outhouse in the Rockies!
