Granholm (Mich. gov.) said that the water is pressurized thru the pipes electrically, and consequently, no power = no water.

Here's a question .. how have these people dealt with power outages in the past????

I realize this is a big one .. but it's not like this is the FIRST time this country has had the power go out.

2 years ago my area lost power for 12 hours .. we used the grill to cook on and only flushed the tolets when needed to and if we needed water .. we boiled it

Great point. We lost power, in Grand Rapids, over 100,000 people, for several days in the dead of winter and Granholm never felt compelled to address the state. But when Detroit or Benton Harbor (recent riots in a very small city) Jenny is all over it.

Why in the world wouldn't a piece of critical infrastructure like a water plant not have emergency generators for at least some percentage of normal operation? All the telecom people sure do.

This is the biggest outage in US history though. Millions without power at the same time, affecting airports, hotels, transportation, water and everything else you can imagine. I've refrained from using this word before, but I have to say, I think this is HUGH!!
